So, You Think You Are in Charge.

Well, here is friendly reminder of who really is in charge and it is certainly not any of us. Think about this for a moment. Think about a day of transporting someone from their home to someone else’s home. That is very close and comparable to God transporting us from our home to His. Some of life’s stormiest hours on a trip is when the drive and the passenger disagree on what takes place during the trip! Can you picture the chaos if a parent indulged in their children’s every wish?

1 Thessalonians 5: 9 says, “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.” God’s all – embracing desire is that you reach that destiny. His itinerary includes stops that encourage your journey. He frowns on stops that deter you. When his sovereign plan and your earthly plan collide, a major decision must be made. So, who is really in charge of this journey?

Prayer reminds us of who is in charge. You are not going to take your request to someone with less authority. You take them to someone who outranks you I the solutions department.

We are reminded of this in 2 Kings 19: 14 – 19 when King Hezekiah went directly to God in prayer and spent some time alone with him. Hezekiah was facing a major situation and new only God could take care of the problem that he faced.

The same is true in your prayer request. You don’t pray just to let God know what’s going on. He is way ahead of you on that one. You may want to change “my will be done” to “God’s will be done.” You see, He knows everything beforehand and since He is in charge, he knows what the best solution is. Prayer transfers the burden from you to God and you load will be lightened. Prayer pushes us through our slumps, over the humps, and out of the dumps. It helps us over the bumps in the road. It is the oomph we need to get the answers we seek.

So remember folks, when you hit a bump in the road of life, just think about who is really in charge and go to Him before anyone else. The Lord should be first always. He will answer your prayers in His time, not yours. So don’t get discouraged if you have not received an answer in fifteen minutes. You are not in charge, God is. So don’t become impatient, he will answer, you just have to wait until he is ready. He is in charge, not you.
