God Love Rains

Lord, we sure are thankful for the September rains you have sent over most of the area. What a blessing! My cows are eatin’ green grass and drinkin’ fresh water. Thank You, Sir.

I’ve shared this one before. Y’all may remember this story of the two brothers. There were these two cowboy brothers who went to see their preacher to get him to help settle a longstanding rip-roarin’ fight they had been having. The preacher was able to get the two young cowboys to sit down and talk about their differences. But it seemed that neither one of ‘em could remember just what it was that they had started out bein’ all festered up at each other about in the first place. But, just the same, neither one had been willing to let go of it. It pretty much all boiled down to usual kind of nonsense you see in a sibling relationship/rivalry.

It think it probably started years ago over a purty young blond-haired girl or wait, maybe it was about who was gonna get the new colt that had just been born to Dad’s high-dollar mare.

But y’all quit side-trackin’ me. Their pastor finally got them to shake hands and even give each other a brotherly bear hug. Yeah, it’s okay if cowboy brothers hug. And, by the way, it’s okay for Dads to tell their sons and daughters that they love their young’uns, too!

Yeah, well, the boys got up to leave, and the preacher asked them to each share one positive thought with his brother before they left.

Well, the first brother turns to the other and says, “I desire to do for my Bubba what he wants to do for me!”

Well that did it! The second brother complained back, “See Preacher, he startin’ it all up again! He’s wantin’ to whoop me, and I didn’t do nothin’ to him at all!”

Folks, we should not only try to get along with family, we need to love ‘em! But as Christians, we need to learn to have love for all people. And that means everybody!

But what about people that I hate? What about people that hate me and want to hurt me?

Jesus tells us we must have love for all!

But Lord, what about people that don’t love You? Do you mean to tell me You love them, too?

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16, nasb)

A while back, I was studying in Matthew and focusing on how God sends forth His rain and looked at a verse I had read several times and saw it in an all new way!

Jesus tells us in Matt 5:44-45, “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

What? God sends down rain even on people who don’t like Him? Yep! God is love! He sends forth His love to all! The simple answer to our questions is God’s love!!!

Y’all ever have people that wander into your life seemingly just to frustrate you and make you find your boiling point! Yeah, sometimes, a feller can push our buttons without them even realizing it, but other times they do it ‘cause they just like to.

We must look to what Jesus teaches, and I find I not only have to pray for my fellow man that I may be at odds with, but I am to love him, too! Y’all try this, it works! When we pray for our enemies, we begin to see them as God sees them. That’s awesome! Love and pray and testify! And be thankful for the rain the Lord sends forth!!!

Choose Jesus, choose life! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! And y’all KEEP PRAYIN’ for RAIN! Amen
