Bill Earl Grimes, 21, was charged Wednesday with murder in the gun death of his father, George Grimes, 57, at the farm home seven miles north and two and one-half miles east of Walters Thursday evening of last week. Mr. Grimes and his wife, Irene, 49, were discovered during the noon hour Sunday by a friend who had gone to the place to report a dead calf he had discovered. Both bodies were lying in doorways at the residence. The gas jets were turned on in two stoves, and the house was reeking with the fumes when the officials first entered. By some quirk of fate the gas did not ignite, apparently spoiling a plan to destroy evidence...Mrs. Marvin Moore, of Walters, temporary clerk at the local selective service board, has received her appointment as permanent employee by the civil service...Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Bowles, of Randlett, will be honored on their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a reception at the Union Valley gym Sunday, December 20... Mr. and Mrs. Joe Copeland, of Temple, will observe their golden wedding anniversary December 20 with an open house in the couple’s home. Married in 1909 at Bennington, Oklahoma, the couple have lived many years in and around Temple...Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Kemp, of Randlett, announce the birth of a son, Montey Ray, in the Walters hospital, December 7.

Cache Valley Lodge No. 530 elected new officers Monday night. New officers are: Dick Harris, Worshipful Master; Mark Anderson, Senior Warden; Dee Bressman, Junior Warden; Clarence Fletcher, Treasurer; Cecil Cathey, Secretary; Herbert Coombs, Chaplain; J. T. Stauffer, Senior Deacon; Michael Oliver, Junior Deacon; Gomer High, Senior Steward; Thomas Hollingshead, Junior Steward; Benny Collins, Tyler...Mr. and Mrs. Ernest F. Stone, of Walters, will be honored with a reception Sunday, December 16 in their home at 513 E. Texas, in observance of their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Stone and the former Retta Bell Linker were married December 22, 1929, in Davidson, and have lived in Walters since 1948...Nancy Kate Fitzsimons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Fitzsimons, will receive a degree of bachelor of science in pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Weatherford. Her studies end on December 21, but must wait until May 16 to receive her diploma.

Miss Wanda Hutchins became the bride of Wallace Hall on Friday, March 7 at Roswell, N. Mex. Mrs. Hall is the daughter of Mrs. Thelma Hutchins of this city. She was born in this community and attended school here until a few weeks ago. The groom is the son of Mrs. Jewell Hall, also of Temple. After a year’s service as a marine, he joined the navy and served two years before the war ended. He received his discharge from the service March 25, 1946...A boy was born Monday, February 17, at Dallas, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Holman of that city. He has been named Gary Glenn.
