He is Alive!
What many folks around these parts know as Easter is coming up Sunday. I have been hearing from a few news folks that we may not get to have Easter this year. Really? Yep, they are saying that because of the corona that we may not get to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. I didn’t know it was dependent on what is happening in the world. I didn’t know you couldn’t celebrate Easter without giant Easter egg hunts and some fictional Easter Bunny that is evidently related to S. Claus.
I have to ask, what does looking for eggs and a bunny have to do with the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? And for that matter, why do we have to physically gather together to avoid cancelling Easter Sunday. Here’s what I believe: Jesus went to the cross and died a horrible death there. He was buried in a tomb, but on Sunday the stone was rolled away. He lives! He lives! This is what we must always remember! This is what we celebrate!
I serve a risen Savior, He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today! You ask me how I know He lives. He lives within my heart!
So, should we remember Resurrection Sunday as a special day? Yes! And let’s focus on Jesus!
Let’s tell others about Him! He is risen! He conquered death. And He sits at the right hand of the Father. John 14:1-6 tells us, how He has prepared a place for us in His Father’s Kingdom:
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way where I am going.”
Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (nasb)
Jesus prepared the one and the only way for us to go to heaven. He was sent by the Father.
I am convinced that the best way to make it through this time of pandemic is to trust in God through a relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Yes, Jesus paid it all! Now, I don’t know about you, but if I had a spread of good grazin’ over a thousand hills, and it’s stocked with say a few thousand of good black baldy cows, and they’ve got all the grass they’ll ever need, then I’d be hard pressed to want to go over to the other side of the divide and try to straighten out a bunch of no count rustlers and horse thieves.
But Jesus left heaven and came down here for you and me. But why? Because He wanted us to be able to have a relationship with Him and to receive an inheritance on His home ranch called heaven.
I’ve mentioned it before about the home place. Here in this cowboy version of John 14: “Y’all don’t let your hearts be settin’ heavy; believe in God, believe also in Me. On
My Father’s ranch are many waist deep pastures; if it were not so, I would have told you; I go to get your place ready for you. If I go and prepare a choice meadow for you, then you can know I will be back to get you, for where I am, you’ll be there with Me. You boys know the way where I am headed.”
Now, Thomas had his doubts. How could they know where He was headed. Maybe because He had already told them several times. Jesus was headed to be at the right-hand of His Father in Heaven! He wants you to join Him there!
Choose Jesus, choose life! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST!
