The Walters Chamber of Commerce board met in regular session on November 9th, 2020 at Noon, at the Walters Public Library, located at 202 N. Broadway in Walters, Oklahoma. The meeting was called to order by Board President William McKay.
Item #1--- Board Members present were: Joi Bellamy, Benne Brewer, Wes Eidson, Jack Jacob, Stesha Kerr, William McKay, Gina Suson, Brantley Tillery, and Kaila Williams. Board Members Lacy Edgmon and Wendy Zimmerman were unable to attend.
Item #2—No additional Chamber members were present.
Item #3---Visitors present were: Cecily Brigoli (HILLIARY COMMUNICATIONS’ Marketing Coordinator), Scott Chance (from CONGRESSMAN TOM COLE’S Office), Andrew Garcia (WALTERS PUBLIC SCHOOL Head Baseball Coach), Nicole Jordan (WALTERS HIGH SCHOOL Principal), Jessica Spence (WALTERS HIGH SCHOOL Student Council), Sheila Youngblood (W CLUB), & Noah Sanchez.
Item #4---Jack Jacob made a motion to approve the October, 2020 meeting minutes. Brantley Tillery seconded the motion. The vote was: Ayes: All Nays: None
Item #5---Wes Eidson made a motion to approve the October, 2020 Treasurer’s reports. Benne Brewer seconded the motion. The vote was: Ayes: All Nays: None
Item #6--- The Board discussed and considered approval of a theme for the upcoming Annual Chamber Banquet, scheduled for January 11th, at First Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall (located at at 6 p.m. The banquet Committee made a motion to approve the theme of “Come Grow With Us” and authorizing a budget of $2,000.00 (two thousand dollars) out of the General Fund for Banquet-related expenses. Stesha Kerr (COTTON BLOOM FLORIST) will chair decorations. No second was required.
Item #7---The Board discussed the upcoming Christmas Parade, scheduled for December 5th at 6 p.m., and the possibility of having lots of family-fun activities in conjunction with the Parade. Those in attendance representing WPS introduced many wonderful ideas for these activities. It promises to make for a fun evening for the whole family. A planning meeting is scheduled for Nov. 13th at 4 pm at the Library.
Item #8— The Board discussed the upcoming Pancake Supper, scheduled for February 16th. Brantley Tillery wi;; chair this event.
Item #9— In Advertising/Economic Development, discussion was heard regarding welcoming ABSOLUTE CAR CARE, CT PATMAN’S PIZZA, CT/LEGACY INSURANCE GROUP, DAYLIGHT DONUTS, and THE KINDER AGENCY/FARMER’S INSURANCE with Ribbon-Cuttings. COTTON BLOOM FLORIST will be contacted regarding the plants to be presented. It was reported that all these businesses except one had been contacted, and the Chamber is waiting on these businesses to let us know when they would like to have their business recognized. Item #12--President William McKay declared the meeting adjourned. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be Monday, December 14th, at noon, at the Walters Public Library. Everyone attending is asked to bring finger foods.
