Announcement was made this week of the marriage of Miss Quintis Lewallen of Walters and Lecil H. Hewett of Lawton, the wedding having occurred June 3 at Yukon, Okla. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Lewallen of the Soldier Valley Community. The groom is the son of Mrs. Mary S. Hewett of Lawton...Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Howell have announced the birth of a baby daughter at their home here Wednesday, October 10. She has been named Sylvia Ann...T. E. Speir, Walters Cotton Buyer, recently was appointed as Tag Agent for Cotton County.

Lloyd Wayne is the name chosen by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Davis, Route 1 Temple, for their son born September 28. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Brooks, of Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Chambers, of Madill...Big Pasture Future Farmers of America Chapter at Randlett had the champion tractor driving team at the Texas-Oklahoma fair at Iowa Park last week. Jarvis Kinder was the champion in theJunior Division, while Ben Martin placed third in the Senior Division. Wayne Ressel was first with his wheat exhibit, and Larry Wileman had third place wheat. Hugh McCullough had the champion Suffolk Ewe and the Champion Suffolk Ram...Walters City Council members will be interviewing applicants for the City Manager position. Local applicants for the position include: W. L. Taylor, Jr., Bud Longueville, Walter W. Mounts, Ferrell Phillips, Don Garrett, Bob Lines and Vernon Broberg.

Miss Sandra Lea Coker became the bride of David Allen Nelson in a ceremony performed Saturday, September 22, in the garden of the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Coker, in Walters. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nelson, of Tulsa...Peggy Joyce Lee was recognized at the State Fair of Oklahoma as the Teacher of the Year for Cotton County Education Association...This year’s Temple Alumni Homecoming will mark the golden anniversary for the classes 1928 and 1929. Beauton Kooken was sponsor for both classes.

James Emberling, formerly of Healdton, is opening the G. & E. Cafe here this Thursday morning in the big room just north of the Public Service Co.’s office...The marriage of Miss Novalene Pugh and Howard L. Purvis took place Saturday, December 28, at Henrietta, Texas. The groom is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Purvis of Hastings Route 1, and the bride is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Pugh of Hastings Route 2. The groom spent one and one-half years in the merchant marine and sailed around the world almost twice...J. E. McDonald resigned January 1 as manager of the Farmers Elevator and his financial interests in the business have been purchased by the elevator company...Brad Cook’s house burned down Tuesday evening. The fire is said to have been caused by a stove explosion.
