Work was scheduled to start this week on a new two-room school building in the Pecan Grove District, nine miles west of Walters, to replace the building which was destroyed during an electrical storm early this month. Students from this school are being transported to the Emerson school which is not in session at this time...R. P. Sessums Feed Store will open Monday, October 1, at 210 N. Broadway... Announcement has been made of the birth of a baby son to Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Mallow on Monday, September 24. He has been named Glen Dale...Approval of a 40-acre lake project on the Bob Mooney farm one mile west of Temple has been made by the state FERA Department. The project will call for an expenditure of $12, 204 in building a dam approximately 18 feet high which will impound water over an area of between 35 and 40 acres. Site for the lake was donated to the City of Temple by Mr. Mooney.

The play is a comedy and cast of characters includes: Melba Simpson, Cherie Sanders, Pat Purkey, Betty Washington, Jo Ann Fletcher, Eddie Chambers, Pat Barbee, Lynn Wilson, Janie Todd, Paul Tilley and Bob Jones.

Kendra Gayle Hicks and Dale Wilson Elliott were united in marriage August 18, in St. Paul Methodist Church in Amarillo, Texas. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lee Hicks, of Amarillo. Mrs. Hicks is the former Joe Ann McClung, formerly of Walters. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Elliott, of Amarillo. Mr. Elliott is also formerly of Walters...Grover and Emma (McCleary) Bridges will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, October 7, in the Cotton Electric Civil Room. They were married October 9, 1929, in Walters, and have spent most of their married life in and around Walters... Richard and Diana (Shaw) Goss are the parents of a son, Brandon Duane, born September 8. Paternal grandmother is Mrs. Wallace Richard Goss, Sr., of Lawton. Maternal grandmother is Mrs. Minnie Ruth King, of Walters...Miss Ila Simpson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Monk Simpson, was selected as Temple Homecoming Queen. The crowning escort was Barron Richmond...Selected by the Temple student body for Grand Marshal of the Homecoming parade Friday, was Gordon Williams, former football coach of the Temple school.
