Norine Williams, 13-year-old daughter of Ben Williams, farmer residing two miles south of Randlett, was fatally burned in a fire which destroyed the Williams home early last Saturday afternoon. An explosion, which is believed to have been created when kerosene was poured on live coals in a stove, ignited the girls’ clothing...Bids for remodeling the old Masonic Hall building and building apartments in the upper story, are being taken here by W. C. Stamper as an agent of the Acacia Life Insurance Co., owner of the building. The first floor is occupied by the post office and the FERA offices...Mr. and Mrs. Emmitt Crow of the Elm Grove Community are the parents of a baby girl, born September 13. She has been named Elva Jo...V. C. Davis and Bert Powers opened Davis & Powers Motor Co. at 125 S. Broadway. They have obtained the Oldsmobile agency. Bob Duncan has been engaged as an automobile salesman.

Hugh F. Fitzsimons, City Manager for Walters since June 1957, tendered his resignation to the Mayor and Council Members Tuesday night. He said it was his intention to enter the private practice of law. Becoming City Manager upon the retirement of Bob Wilson at the time he became associated with Cotton Electric Cooperative, Fitzsimons transferred from the county attorney’s office to take this post...Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Knightstep, of Walters Route 2, have chosen the name Sheila Gay for their daughter born September 5. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Alva Parks and Rev. and Mrs. H. R. Knightstep... Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Bielby, of Midland, Texas, announce the birth of a son, Brian Keith, on August 28. Mrs. Bielby is the former Miss Jo Nell Finley, daughter of Mrs. Will Finley, of Walters...The residence of Alton Coy on the north side of West Nebraska street in Walters, was a complete loss, as was the contents, following a fire around 4 o’clock Wednesday morning. Mr. Coy was able to escape the burning building.

The trailer home residence of Mr. Allen Seward, located 10 miles south of Temple, caught fire around 10 o’clock Monday night, and burned completely to the ground, without anything saved. Cause of the blaze is not known. Mrs. Seward was asleep at the time and was awakened by the crackling of the fire. She managed to escape without injury...Clinton Allmon, who graduated from Walters High School in 1960, is enjoying a leading role in the Broadway presentation of “The Texan.” He auditioned for the Actor’s Studio in 1968 and became a life member on his first try. He is the son of Oras Allmon, of Walters, and Anita Allmon, of Lawton...Temple Police Chief Charles Mooney underwent surgery of the cervical spine Monday, September 17 at Wichita Falls General Hospital. The operation was to relieve a pinched nerve caused by the extended vertebrae.
