Misses Dink and Lucille Thurman, formerly of the Union Valley district, are now playing basketball with the famous Lion Oilers of El Dorado, Ark. They have their eyes set on the national title, the winner of which will have the chance to go to the World’s Olympic games in Berlin next summer... Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Bridges have a son, Jerry Lynn, born this morning, Feb. 27...Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Nelson are parents of a son, Donald Carl, born Tuesday, Feb. 11...Four new WPA projects for county schools will start next week. A new schoolhouse will be built in the Ruth district, repair work on Walters schools, Valley View and Union Valley will be done. The new Hulen school building is complete and school started in it Feb. 24.

Lt. Aldean Postlewait, of the Navy, received his discharge recently at Brunswick, Maine, and arrived home on Tuesday of last week and is now visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Postlewait, of Randlett...Barry Landon Hall is the name Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Hall, of Walters, have chosen for their son born Tuesday, February 21. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Robertson, of Lawton...Robert Dale White, 21, a native of the Ahpeatone community, recently changed his job of radar operator with the army at Fort Barry to that of policeman with the San Anselmo, California force. White is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Don Paton, of Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. Jess White, of Arvin, Calif., formerly of Ahpeatone...

Gary Jennings is the new Minister of Music and Youth at the First Baptist church in Walters. He, with his wife, Jo Ellen, and children, Douglas and Angela, have moved to Walters...Darrell Keehn, son of Mrs. Emma Keehn, of Walters, received a four-year instrumental music scholarship from Cameron University this past week. His talent is with the trumpet...Martin’s Appliance Center opened at 105 S. Broadway.

Miss Janie Remmelle Mooney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otho Mooney, Norman, formerly of Temple, became the bride of Floyd Edward Ligon, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Ligon, Purcell, May 24, in the home of the bride’s parents...Miss Doris Dilks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Dilks, Route 1, Walters, became the bride of Doyle Humphreys, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Humphreys, Corum, Saturday, June 1, in the Corum Baptist church...Raymond Sparks, Temple businessman, left Sunday for Oklahoma City, where he will enter the employment of the Independent Grocer’s Alliance. Former owner of IGA store in Temple, Sparks also owns the F & R Cafe. A sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles B. Sparks, will operate the cafe, he said.
