Miss Margie Lawler and Herman Fetters were united in marriage Saturday, November 30, at the Presbyterian manse in Walters. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Lawler of the Lone Star community near Hastings. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Fetters of the same community...Dear Santa, I am seven years old. I would like a big tricycle, some jacks and a ball, an accordion and a great big ball. Twila June Hilbert...Dear Santa, I am seven years old and go to Hulen school. I want a doll bed and a doll, a little washing machine and some candy and apples... Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Sanders are the parents of baby daughter, Patsy Ruth, on Monday, December 2...Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Peck have moved to Hastings where he will be employed by the Armour Creamery and Mrs. Peck will be telephone operator.

Walters high school football Blue Devils rolled up 220 points during the season just closing, while holding their opponents to 70, in chalking up nine wins, two losses and one tie game. They won Southern Four conference and 7-B district championships, and took the first state playoff game from Mangum, 7 to 6, before falling to Purcell, 18-6...Walters Blue Devils placed seven seniors on the 1960 All-Southern Four conference football team: John Paul Jones and Keith LeBarre, ends; Doyle High, guard; Curtis Cromwell, center; Frankie Oberly, quarterback; John Grummon, fullback; and Stanley Shelly, half-back... Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Meredith of Walters announce the marriage of their daughter, Carole June, to Curtis Franklin Bright, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Bright, also of Walters. The couple exchanged their marriage vows Saturday, Nov. 19 in Wichita Falls...Mr. and Mrs. Ora Correll, Jr., of Walters announce the birth of a daughter, Delana Jo...Harry Collins, local pill dispenser, will have a successful hunting season this year, whether he fires another shot. Tuesday he fired at quail and got a man-type critter in the form of Dewey Minnich. Dewey was hit with two shot on his forehead, but at too great a distance to cause serious trouble. Harry is becoming more versatile with his hunting, though. He usually shoots Roy Collins. Roy is a lot easier to hit, there being more of him to get in the way.

An interest in engines and mechanical things and nine years in 4-H have paid off in the form of a $1,000 scholarship for Christopher Kelley, of Walters. Kelley was one of eight young people awarded the educational fund Monday by representatives of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company at the national 4-H Congress in Chicago...Mr. and Mrs. Gene Clark have opened Callie May’s Donut shop at 213 South Broadway in Walters. This is the former location of Barbara’s Drive-In...Grand opening of Temple Beauty shop, located at 107 S. Commercial St., in Temple, will be Friday, December 5. The shop has been remodeled and is under new management. Hairdressers are Ida Faye Durbin, Willie Richardson and Rebina Tucker...Mr. and Mrs. Frank Etier, of Burkburnett, celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary recently. Mr. and Mrs. Etier farmed for 45 years at Randlett.

Sylvia Collins and Joann Brashears were named to the Lawton Constitution-Press all-area basketball team, with Miss Collins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Collins, being named the outstanding forward...Five residents of Temple are among the more than 2,500 students named to the University of Oklahoma Honor Roll for the fall semester. The students are: Harold W. Powell and Marcia A. Worsham, College of Education; Sloan J. Black and Bobby L. Waller, College of Engineering; and Gari L. Nelson, College of Fine Arts.
