The Langston Drug store in Walters has now been purchased by Harry Collins and Lester Tucker, both of Davidson. Collins, who will manage the store, has been in the drug store business in Davidson for the last twelve years. The new name for the store is the City Drug, the Rexall Store...Loyd Newson of Walters, has just enlisted at Ft. Sill for three years’ service in the Field Artillery...Charlie Meyer, recent victim of a Black Widow spider bite, has recovered sufficiently to return to his home southeast of Walters...Miss Reva Loy and Roy Smith, both of Walters, were married at Duncan Wednesday morning. The bride is the daughter of Mr. J. E. Loy of Walters. Mr. Smith moved to Walters from Duncan about nine years ago.

The Bible Baptist Church, Walters, formed the setting for the wedding of Miss Darla Sue Bridgers when she became the bride of Gerald Robert Hayes, Saturday, July 16. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl D. Bridgers, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Hayes, all of Walters...Raymond Corbett, young Walters golfer, won two trophies in the Texas-Oklahoma Junior Golf Tournament Saturday...Col. James C. Selman, Base Commander at Tinker Air Force base, upon the eve of his departure for an assignment at the Industrial College of the Air Force at Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington, D.C., was awarded the Air Force Commendation medal. Col. Selman was born and reared in Walters...Jim Finchum, former Chief of Police, Walters, made application in County Court this week for a pool or billiard hall license at a location in the 100 block of South Broadway...The children of Mr. and Mrs. William Keen Garrett are holding open house in honor of their parents’ sixtieth wedding anniversary, July 24 in the Garrett’s home in Temple. They were married in Byrdstown, Tenn., July 20, 1900...Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Tisdale, who reside one mile north and four miles west of Cookietown, will be honored by their children at an open house reception Sunday in observance of their 60th wedding anniversary.

What started out to be a cooling summer swim in Lake Boyer, northwest of Walters, late Friday afternoon for three young boys, turned into a tragedy for one Walters youth. Two of the group were returning to the bank when they noticed that the third member was not with them. An hour and a half later a dive team of Kenneth Skelton, OHP diver, and Alan Smith, local Scuba diver, found the body of Anthony Wayne Denham, approximately 35 feet from the bank in 10 feet of water... Miss Margaret Ann Moore and James Wayne Kinder exchanged wedding vows Saturday, July 12, in the First Christian Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Moore, of Walters. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Kinder, of Walters...Mrs. Zadia Caldwell, ofBakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Nancy June Sheilds, of Norwalk, Calif., and Mrs. Cora Austin, of Bewfa, Calif., arrived in Randlett July 8 to help care for their mother, Mrs. Zadia Bryant, who has suffered injuries from recent falls at her home...Miss Loura Ann Coleman and Michael Ray Ewing were married Saturday, May 24, in the First United Methodist Church in Independence, Mo. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ewing, of Walters...Mr. and Mrs. B. I. King observed their 66th wedding anniversary Sunday, July 12. They were married on that date in 1914, in Montague, Texas, coming to Cotton County in 1944...A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Roger Abbe, of Temple, Tuesday, July 15, and named Mindy Sue. Paternal grandmother is Mrs. Sadie Abbe, and maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Cole, all of Temple.

In a double ring ceremony Sunday, October 12, in the home of her parents, Miss Peggy Jo Graham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Graham, became the bride of Perry Stogner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Stogner. Warren Stogner, Waurika, brother of the groom, served as best man...Kenneth Dan Edwards, who has spent almost two years in the U. S. Marine Corps, arrived home Sunday after receiving his discharge last week at Corpus Christi, Texas. He served five months in Japan and seven months in China. Edwards is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Edwards.
