He has been named Jimmie Paul...A school bus from Temple now hauls three children from Donley, four from Fairview, fourteen from Gregg, three from Pioneer and one from Valley View...The marriage of Miss Ione Cooper and Grover Sawyer, both of Walters, were married August 25 in Oklahoma City. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Cooper, while the groom is the son of Mr. W. E. Sawyer...Jack Jones, Walters High School’s National Champion Javelin Thrower, has been awarded a scholarship by the University of Southern California and will attend that school during the coming term.

Devol was dealt a crippling blow, and the balance of the county staggered under a combination of many forces of the elements Sunday evening. At 6:30 p.m. a tornado roared into view and most people had taken shelter, but no one was prepared for the destruction which came. Nearly every building in the business section of the town was destroyed or greatly damaged. Bricks and rubble were piled everywhere. A number of home in the town and surrounding area were damaged. All of this damage, and no one was badly injured... Mr. and Mrs. Jewell Hayes, of Randlett, announce the birth of a son, Timmie Ray, Friday, August 28, in a Wichita Falls hospital...The Hob Nob cafeteria, completely remodeled and refurbished, held a formal opening last week, Mr. and Mrs. Wade Sparks, owners, said. It was formerly operated as the F&R Cafe... Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Stacey, of Temple, are parents of a baby girl, Kristi Kay, born August 26...Mr. and Mrs. Max Thorne, of Chickasha, are the parents of a daughter born August 27. She has been named Rebecca Lynn...Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Berry, of Walters, have chosen the name Jerry Dean for the baby boy born August 26...A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bowles August 27 in the Walters hospital. She has been named Debra Jean...Wedding vows were exchanged by Miss Charla Dee Duke and Bobby Hart in the Church of Christ parsonage in Sentinel, August 14. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Duke, of Sentinel, and the bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Clay Hart, of Walters.

Miss Sherrie Ledford has been added to the Temple school teaching staff as fifth grade teacher. Also newly employed is Miss Susan Henthron as band director. At O. U. she was a member of the “Pride of Oklahoma” marching band, the university symphonic band and the university orchestra... Mrs. Chester Lasley, of Randlett, suffered a severe injury to her foot, losing two toes and breaking two more and her big toe was cut open by a mower at home Wednesday of last week and is still in a Wichita Falls hospital...Marriage licenses were issued to Gerald G. Plaster, 34, and Dana K. Meyer, 30, both of Walters; and Douglas Ferguson, 19, of Lawton, and Lisa Smith, 17, of Walters...The City of Temple has leased their airport north of town to Lacefield Brothers and John Ed Dowlen, who have recently purchased a plane.

The Wilson Trading Post, which has been selling packaged beer for several years, is discontinuing the sale of beer this week. The proprietor, who is police judge and justice of the peace, said it did not look very consistent to sell beer to customers and later fine them for being drunk or disorderly.
