Mama Just Knows

Next Sunday is the day that has been set aside to honor our Mothers. Many of us will be honoring Mom from a distance this year. We are so ready to take our masks off and get out and be normal again. But Mom is not the one to try this out on. She doesn’t need the corona covid-19. So, we need to do what we can to keep it away. Prayers go out to a local nursing care center that has had several patients test positive for the virus. Praying for staff, residents, and families.

Our moms have much wisdom! Here are some examples, many I’ve shared before.

Mama taught me logic: “That’s the way it is because I said so!”

Mama taught me the importance of prayer! “You better pray that stain will come out of the rug!”

Mama even conquered time travel: “If you don’t straighten up, I’m going to knock you into the middle of next week!”

Mama taught me to be prepared for emergencies: “Just in case you ever get in an accident, always wear clean underwear!”

Mama taught me that one should truly appreciate a job done well: “If y’all are going to kill each other, do it outside - I just finished cleaning the house!”

Mama was good at teachin’ me irony: “You keep laughin’ and I’ll give you somethin’ to cry about!”

Mom tried to teach me somethin’ about the science of OSMOSIS: “Shut your mouth and eat your supper!” I never did master that one!

Mama must think I’m capable of unusual abilities: “Will you just look at the dirt on the back of your neck!”

Mama taught me to never give up: “Don’t get up ‘til you eat every bit of your spinach!”

Ma taught me about the order of things: “I brought you into this world, and I can take you out.”

Mom taught me about something called envy: “There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don’t have a wonderful mother like yours!”

My mother taught me a lot of things, but the best thing she ever taught me was telling me about Jesus and how much He loves me! And she taught me about how I need to follow Christ and obey His word!

Proverbs 31 talks of a woman who is a wonderful wife and mother. Prov 31:28: Her children rise up and bless her…

Deuteronomy 5:16 tells us, “Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you on the land which the LORD your God gives you.” (nasb)

Little Johnny told the preacher, “Last year on Mother’s Day the whole family got together for a big dinner and afterward, when Mom started to clean up, I said to her, “Don’t bother with those dishes, Mom. Today is Mother’s Day, just leave ‘em til tomorrow.” She done put a lump on my head like the one, listed above, pertaining to time travel.

THANK YOU, MOMS, FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK.

Moms have special powers, but her work is never quite done! Mom knows things. Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it. (Prov. 22:6 nasb)

If it be possible, let Mama know how much you love and appreciate what she has done for you!

God is good! All the time! And all the time, God is good!

Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HAR- VEST! And pray for rain!
