Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) congratulated the Delta Community Action Foundation, based in Lindsay, after it was named a grant recipient by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The grant, totaling more than $1.5 million, will support the administration of Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Garvin, McClain and Stephens counties.

“I am very proud that Delta Community Action Foundation is receiving a substantial grant to support facilitation of Head Start and Early Head Start programs serving children and families,” said Congressman Cole. “Last year, I had the great privilege of visiting Delta Community Action Foundation, including one of their Head Start classrooms. Throughout my visit and during conversations with leadership, teachers and staff, I was greatly moved and inspired by their heart for the community and their commitment to the well-being and success of children at every stage of development. As they continue to serve South Central Oklahoma, this new investment in early childhood education, development and nutrition will help ensure even more children have a solid foundation for learning and thriving in school.”

“Delta Community Action is extremely grateful to be receiving the HHS grant. We are committed to making sure every child that comes through our doors has an opportunity to succeed,” said Karen Nichols, Executive Director of Delta Community Action Foundation.
