The new 2020 Oklahoma Travel Guide highlights many of these can’t-miss attractions.
The guide, which is produced by the Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department, is now available free for order on the state’s official travel and tourism website, TravelOK.com.
“We are so excited about this new Oklahoma Travel Guide,” said Oklahoma Lt.Gov. Matt Pinnell, who is also the state’s Secretary of Tourism & Branding. “It showcases all of the things that make our state such a special place to live and visit. Readers will learn about our awesome stretch of Route 66, our unique American Indian and Western heritage and our incredible outdoors experiences. If you want to see America, you’ve got to see Oklahoma, and this guide gives travelers a road map for how to do that.”
The guide’s memorable cover features a colorful illustration of the majestic American bison, which is Oklahoma’s state animal and a familiar sight to many in the state. Bison herds still roam several areas of Oklahoma, including the Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, the Chickasaw National Recreation Area and the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.
Inside the guide, readers will find more vibrant illustrations and nearly 200 pages of only-in-Oklahoma attractions. The book highlights new gems like Tulsa’s Gathering Place and Oklahoma City’s Scissortail Park alongside longtime favorites like Beavers Bend State Park in Broken Bow and the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge in Jet.
The guide features Q&As with Oklahomans from around the state, including professional bass angler Edwin Evers of Taloga and hip-hop artist Jabee Williams of Oklahoma City. It also includes directories of tourism attractions and accommodations around the state.
