James Thacker

Funeral Services for James Thacker, 89, Walters, OK were held at First Baptist Church, Walters, Friday, February 2, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Jay Driskill officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home. James Roy Thacker was born to Clinton and Mary Lydia (Berry) Thacker on October 22, 1928 on a farm near Walters, OK and departed life in Lawton, OK on January 29, 2018 at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 7 days. James grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS in 1948, and soon went to work for REC. He married Betty Jo Mallow on March 19, 1949 at Wichita Falls, TX and to the union 2 sons were born. In 1950 he went to work for McLaughlin Oil and then for Kewanee. While with Kewanee the family transferred to McLean, TX where they lived from 1958 to 1969, transferring to Shidler, OK with Gulf which eventually became Chevron. He retired in 1986 with 36 years in the petroleum industry and he and Betty returned to Walters.

Richard Trahan

Funeral services for Richard Trahan, 71, Walters, OK were held at First Baptist Church, Walters, Wednesday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Roger Noland officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Walters says goodbye to a legend, Richard Don Trahan was born to Howard and Imogene Bell (Spannagel) Trahan on March 31, 1946 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Norman, OK on February 3, 2018 at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 3 days. Richard grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS in 1965. He then attended Cameron College on a football scholarship and also joined the Oklahoma National Guard, serving his country for 6 years. He married Jeannie June Williams on May 20, 1967 at Walters and to the union 3 children were born. As a teenager Richard went on harvest with the Vardell family and then worked various other jobs before settling into a 36-year career with Bruton Construction.

Alan ‘Animal’ Hackworth

Funeral service for Alan “Animal” Hackworth (April 19, 1965 - February 01, 2018) will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bubba Clark officiating. Alan “Animal” Hackworth, age 52, Apache, died Thursday, February 1, 2018 at his residence. He was born April 19, 1965 in Vernon, Texas. He grew up in Vernon, Texas and began working at a factory at a young age. He had operated a restaurant at one time but his passion was building motorcycles. He was the owner and operator of Anamalistic Designs. He married Patsy Lively on April 7, 2012 at the Lonesome Dove in Cache. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Hackworth; his son, Anthony Hackworth and his girlfriend, Ashley Williams, Lawton; his mother, Patsy Cline, Electra, Texas; five siblings, Danny Reppond, Oregon, Rhonda Hord, Weatherford, Texas, Larry Hackworth and Tommy Hackworth, both of Vernon, Texas, and Shelliey Cline; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

JoAnn Shackelford

JoAnn Shackelford, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 25, 2018. JoAnn was born in Breckenridge, TX, on Aug. 20th, 1933, the daughter of Byron and Goldie Hash. She became a Christian at an early age and always set a Christ-like example in her daily life. She graduated from Pampa HS and West TX State University, where she met her husband of 61 years, Ben Shackelford. They spent the majority of their married lives in Pampa, TX and Walters, OK, developing lasting friendships before finally ending up in the Dallas area to be near family. Teaching both 2nd grade and elementary school music, JoAnn was a born teacher with her nurturing manner. She never met a stranger, and this caring nature endeared her to her students and helped form the special bond she shared with her daughter and grandchildren.

Nadine Pfeifer Bowles

Nadine Pfeifer Bowles passed away January 17, 2018 at the age of 98 in Wichita Falls, Texas. A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church of Burkburnett, Texas. Graveside services followed at Fairview Cemetery in Randlett, Oklahoma. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Owens Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett. Nadine began her life on May 1, 1919, as the next-tothe- youngest of six children born to George and Icena Gibson Pfeifer on a farm east of Randlett, Oklahoma. The farm was purchased by her father in the Big Pasture Opening of 1906. Nadine graduated from the Randlett Public School in 1937, and then attended Central Oklahoma University in Edmond, Oklahoma where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. On April 26, 1940 Nadine and Charles B. Bowles were married. For the first six years of their marriage, they taught school together in one and two-room schools in Southern Cotton County.

Dieter Sehrt

Funeral Services for Dieter Sehrt, 52, Walters, OK were held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Wednesday, January 24, at 1:30 p.m., Faron Griffin officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Klaus Dieter Sehrt was born to Hans and Margarete Noha Sehrt on January 3, 1966 in Homberg Germany and departed this life in Walters, OK on January 19, 2018 at the age of 52 years and 16 days. Dieter grew up on a farm until the family moved into GieBen where he attended school. He then served in the military before attending college and then going to work for Canon. He eventually moved to the United States living at Lawton, OK where he worked for a crop duster. He soon sought citizenship which he received around 1993. He went to work for Coca-Cola as a truckdriver and moved to Walters where he met Shelly Jo Linderkamp. They married on October 9, 1994, to the union a son, Hans Bouchee Sehrt, was born.

Dennie Earl Bellah

Ringling- Funeral services for Mr. Dennie Earl Bellah, 73, of Ringling were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Ringling with Rev. Mark Kunkel officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling. Dennie was born on August 30, 1944 at Stamford, TX to the late Mr. Eugene Debs and Mrs. Jettie Onita (Ray) Bellah. He departed this life on Friday January 5, 2018 at the Healdton Hospital Dennie attended Floydada High School and grew up in West Texas.He and the former Ms. Vicky Sue Ray were united in marriage on April 3, 1970 at Amarillo. Dennie joined the United States Army at the age of 17 years old. During his 24 years of Military Service he served 3 combat tours in Vietnam. He also served in Puerto Rico, Germany and Korea.

Jackie Leroy Whitehead

Jackie Leroy Whitehead, 73, died January 4, 2018 in OKC. He was born March 29, 1944 in Walters, OK, the son of Paul and Irene (King) Whitehead. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy serving during the Vietnam war. A retired CNC machinist, Jackie was an avid garage sale enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Joshua Grigsby, and first wife, Inda Lou Lipscomb. To that union was born Rodney Leroy Whitehead. He then married Grace Irene Markwell on September 16, 1965 in Seminole, OK. To that union, a daughter, Karen was born.

Hector Yackeschi was born to Winfred “Bud” and Virgie Lee (Mason) Yackeschi on July 17, 1948 in Colorado Springs, CO and departed this life in Lawton, OK on December 29, 2017 at the age of 69 years. As a child Hector lived in Colorado, California and Saginaw, TX until his family settle back in Walters. He graduated from WHS in 1967 and then attended some college at Cameron. He entered the United States Army, serving his country honorably in Vietnam and was discharged as Corporal.
