Velma Clytee (Dikes) Burton was born to Fred Ellis and Lona Olena (Thompson) Dikes on March 16, 1920 at Hastings, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on November 24, 2018 at the age of 98 years, 8 months and 8 days.

Funeral Services for Wendall Dedmon, 73, Walters, OK were held at First United Methodist Church, Walters, OK, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Brantley Tillery and Rev. Dave Karges officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.

Wendall Lee Dedmon was born December 15, 1944 at Elk City, OK and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on November 21, 2018 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 6 days.

Wendall grew up at Elk City where he graduated from high school in 1962. He then served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve from 1962-1968. He married Jemme Charla Cain on January 17, 1970 at Woodward, OK. They have made their home in Walters since 1970 where they raised their two sons, Jimmie and Eric.

Jane Ogletree

Graveside services for Jane Ogletree, 72, Walters, OK were held at the Walters Cemetery, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 3:00 p.m., under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Sibel Jane (Vardell) Ogletree was born to Alvis “AV” and Jessie (Daniel) Vardell on March 16, 1946 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on November 15, 2018.

Jane grew up on the Vardell Farm 4 miles south of Walters. She married Ronald Keith Ogletree on June 5, 1965 at Walters where they lived for a year before moving to El Paso with the U.S. Army. Upon his discharge they made their home at Burkburnett, TX and then back to Walters before moving to Silver City, OK. They eventually made their way to the Houston area at La Porte, TX and then settled back in Walters. Jane was a homemaker, but also had a beauty license, dispatched for the Cotton County Sheriff and worked for JV Piping.

Mildred Olene Rowe

Mildred Olene Rowe, 86, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 15, 2018 in Shawnee, OK. She was born on June 5, 1932 in Walters, OK., to Charles and Olive (Vinyard) Bryant. Mildred married Richard Rowe in 1951 and had 3 children together. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She loved fishing, quilting, sewing and working on her crafts. Mildred was a strong, caring and loving mother and grandmother. She was also a faithful Christian and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed playing bingo with her friends at Rose Manor.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Rowe; granddaughter, Alysia Rowe; great grandson, Michael Rowe; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters.

Kenneth (Ken) Leon Thompson

Services for Kenneth Leon Thompson were held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Craddock Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Bill Crow officiating. Interment was held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, OK. Ken passed from this life on October 31, 2018 in Ardmore, OK at the age of 71.

He was born in Temple, OK to Bacon M. Thompson and Lucille (Cheatham) Thompson on December 31, 1946. Ken was a Walters High School graduate with the class of 1965.

He worked for B&C Grocery until he went to serve his country. He was the owner and operator of Grand Avenue Car Wash for many years. He enjoyed boating, woodworking, reading, traveling, photography (especially pictures of his grandchild).

Stan” was born December 29, 1944 at Hereford, TX and departed this life in Cache, OK on October 30, 2018 at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 1 day. Bro. Stan did much of his growing up in White Deer, TX and then attended 11th and 12th grades at Wheeler High School graduating in 1963. He eventually attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX receiving a Diploma in Theology and later received a Masters Degree of Christian Ministry from Southern Baptist School of Theology in Jacksonville, FL.

Jerry Dale Hayes

Jerry Dale Hayes, 73, of Amarillo, died Saturday, October 27, 2018. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm Friday at Pathpoint Fellowship Church, 6215 Canyon Dr. with Pastors Scott Johnson and Joe Prestwood officiating. Graveside service followed at 3:30 pm Friday at Palo Duro Cemetery in Wildorado. The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday at Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. Jerry was born August 14, 1945 in Burkburnett to Jewel and JoDean Hayes. He graduated from Big Pasture High School in Randlett, Okla. He earned his bachelor degree in business administration at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He earned his master’s degree in business administration and accounting at West Texas State University. He married Sherlene Whatley in 1966 at Burkburnett. Jerry owned American Brokerage Company. He was a member of the National Cottonseed Products Association, Texas Grain and Feed Association, Texas Cattle Feeders Association, and the Lake Tanglewood Golf Association.

Francis Louise (Keck) Bigford was born to Jim and Lize Ida Bonnie (Richards) Keck on June 20, 1942 at Soper, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on October 29, 2018 at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 9 days.

Francis grew up at Martha, OK. She lived in Altus for a time and then onto Palacios, TX for 7 years. She eventually made her way to Temple, OK before moving east of Randlett. Since 2016 Francis has made her home in Walters.

Viewing will begin on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. Stephen Ray “Steve” McKinney was born to William Ray “Buddy” and Connie Louise (Petty) McKinney on February 24, 1952 at the Walters Hospital and departed this life in Lawton, OK on September 30, 2018 at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 6 days. Steve grew up at Walters until the family moved to Bakersfield, CA, in 1967. They returned to Walters in 1978 and Steve went to work at Goodwill Industries in Lawton where he was employed for 40 years. He has lived in a group home with Quality Enterprise in Lawton since 1988. Steve was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Walters. He enjoyed doing latch hook yarn projects and loved family get togethers. He especially enjoyed his 2 trips to Hawaii.

Brian Tolliver

Memorial Service for Brian Tolliver, 52, Walters, OK was held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Roger Noland Officiating. Brian Keith Tolliver was born to Jerry Lee and Patricia Ann (Williams) Tolliver on February 25, 1966 in Munich, Germany and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on September 28, 2018 at the age of 52 years, 7 months and 3 days. Brian grew up in Walters, OK, graduating from WHS in 1985. He then worked at the Haggar Factory in Temple for a few years and then did pipe fabrication in Aruba for a while. He married Kathy Stapp and to the union a son, Jonathon was born. Brian later married April Kindred and to this union a daughter, Alyssa, was born. He was employed by quality fence of Walters, T&G Construction in Lawton, and then operated heavy equipment at the sand plant for Ingram Concrete. He moved to Houston for a time, working in a parts warehouse before returning home and to the sand plant.
