Willie Faye Wood

A Private Interment for Willie Faye Wood, 88, Wichita Falls, TX was held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fairview Cemetery, Randlett, OK. Willie Faye Wood, “Dot,” was born to Velta Curtis (Fowler) and Jink Ervin “JE” Wood on January 29, 1930 at Randlett, OK and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on August 21, 2018 at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 23 days. Willie Faye grew up at Randlett, graduating from Randlett High School in 1949. She made her home in Wichita Falls where she was employed 30 years at Wichita Falls Postal Credit Union, retiring as longtime president in 1994. In retirement she enjoyed traveling and also volunteered many years for a women’s program known as First Step of Wichita Falls. She has enjoyed her stay at Presbyterian Manor which began in 2000 and had moved into their health care unit in June of this year.

Wayne Burnaugh

Funeral Services for Wayne Burnaugh, 96, Duncan, OK were held at First Baptist Church, Walters, OK, Saturday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m., Gary Thurman officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Memorial Donations can be made to the Walters Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 485, Walters, OK 73572 Wayne Edwin Burnaugh was born to Aaron O’Neil and Ellen Mildred (Chambers) Burnaugh on January 9, 1922 northeast of Walters, OK and departed this life in Duncan, OK on August 14, 2018 at the age of 96 years, 7 months and 5 days. Wayne grew up northeast of Walters where he attended Lone Star School before finishing at Walters High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII and soon returned to farming. He married Ruby Mae Sutton on June 24, 1950 and to the union a son, Gregory Taylor, was born on November 11, 1951. They made their home on the farm until moving into Walters in 1969 for Greg’s senior year, but Wayne continued farming.

Scott Morgan

Funeral Services for Scott Morgan, 62, Temple, OK were held at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK, Monday, August 20 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Kevin Simpson officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Visitation was from 4-6:00 pm, Sunday, August 19. Scott Barber Morgan was born to Dr. H Don and Sue Morgan in Ardmore, OK on July 23, 1956 and departed this life on August, 15, 2018 in Wichita Falls, TX at the age of 62 years and 23 days. The Morgans moved to Temple and Scott attended Temple Schools for 12 years graduating in 1974. He married Marsha Newsom in August 6, 1977 in Temple and they have 2 children, Kimberly and Kristoffer. Scott had worked as a carpenter for Les Hines Construction, Wayne Person and Halliburton. After a few years with Halliburton he did carpentry once again with Wayne Person before going to work at Goodyear in 1989. He was employed there for the past 29 years.

Ruby Robertson

Funeral Services for Ruby Robertson, 94, Walters, OK were held at the Church of Christ, Walters, Tuesday, August 14 at 10:00 a.m., Don Crow officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.
Ruby Pauline (Zachary) Robertson was born to Joe Dallas and Beulah Alice (Neely) Zachary on February 7, 1924 at Cookietown, OK and departed this life at her home northeast of Walters, OK on August 9, 2018 at the age of 94 years, 6 months and 2 days.
Ruby grew up attending Union Valley School through the 10th grade. The family then moved to Temple, OK upon the purchase of a quarter section of land on the south side of Temple Lake. She finished her junior and senior years at THS, graduating in 1941. Ruby married Clois Edward Robertson on April 9, 1942 at Walters and to the union 2 daughters were born. The couple lived their entire marriage at the current home on their farm northeast of Walters.

Martha Lue Ledford

Funeral service for Martha Lue Ledford, 94, of Fletcher was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Fletcher. Burial followed at the Fletcher Cemetery under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation was held Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Ledford passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 in Duncan, Oklahoma. Martha Lue (Pullen) Ledford was born on February 16, 1924 in Fletcher, Oklahoma to Charlie and Iva (Kuntz) Pullen. She grew up in Fletcher where she graduated from high school in 1942. She married Ted Ledford on July 18, 1942 in Elgin, Oklahoma. Martha worked on Ft. Sill from March until June of 1944 before moving to San Diego where she worked for the Aircraft Factory from July 1944 until May 1945. Ted and Martha moved back to Fletcher in 1946 and she became employed at the Skinners Grocery Store from 1960 until 1972 when it was bought out by McFarland’s Grocery.

Billy “Bill” George Seward

Billy “Bill” George Seward died the afternoon of July 22 in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was born September 27, 1937, in Walters, Oklahoma, to James Myron and Allena Celeste Seward. Bill was their sixth child. He attended Temple Public Schools and graduated in 1955. On November 1, 1958, he married Ruth Rhodes of Walters, Oklahoma. Bill joined the United States Army in August 1959, and was sent to Germany in 1960. Ruth, pregnant with their firstborn child, followed him a few months later. Bekah Ruth was born in November 1960. In March 1961, they traveled to Bricket Wood, England, where they were baptized into the Radio Church of God (later renamed the Worldwide Church of God). The couple lived in Germany for two years, until Bill received an early honorable discharge from the Army in 1962. The small family returned to Oklahoma and made their home in Lawton, where they had two more children, Billy George II and Jerry Dan.

Wanda Mae (McLendon) Harmon was born to Carl Thomas and Stella Alberta (Kreamer) McLendon on March 13, 1944 in Wickenburg, AZ and departed this life in Walters, OK on August 2, 2018 at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 20 days. Wanda grew up in Arizona and New Mexico, moving around with her dad’s mining job. She left Silver City, NM in 1961 with a friend, moving to Chickasha, OK. Wanda eventually made her home at Guymon, OK. She married L.M. Harris at Liberal, KS in 1966 and to the union a daughter, La Fonda, was born. She later married Kermit Keith Harmon, Jr.

Sylvia (Collins) Booher

Funeral Services for Sylvia (Collins) Booher, Walters, OK were held at First Baptist Church, Walters, Tuesday, July 31 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Kevin Simpson and Dr. Jack Jacob officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Sylvia Ann Collins Booher, was born on February 26, 1940 in Lawton, Oklahoma to John Curtis Collins, Jr. and Dorothy Wampler Collins. Sylvia moved to her heavenly home on July 28, 2018 in Temple, Oklahoma following a lengthy illness at the age of 78. She was a proud Temple Tiger, graduating in 1958. She enjoyed playing in the band where she also performed as a twirler and drum major. Sylvia was an excellent athlete and won state honors as a basketball forward. Sylvia married Donald Wayne Smith of Walters on June 29, 1958. They farmed and did custom harvesting for many years. To this union, two children were born: Kimberlie Ann and Kevin Wayne. Sylvia later married James Booher on November 9,1984.

Tommy Williams

Memorial Service for Tommy Williams, 82, Walters, OK was held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Joe Thomas “Tommy” Williams was born to Herbert Wesley and Elma Iris (Lewis) Williams on October 15, 1935 in Walters, OK and departed this life in Walters on July 16, 2018 at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 1 day. Tommy grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS in 1953. He then attended Southwestern at Weatherford and Cameron College in Lawton. He married Gloria June Priddy on May 6, 1956 in Walters. They made their home in Fort Worth, TX where he was employed by Conveyor Aircraft but soon returned to Walters working with his dad in the family business as a heavy equipment contractor. In 1968 the family moved to New Orleans, LA where he worked as a chemical technician for Union Carbide. They returned to Walters in 1972 and he began doing contract plumbing.

Frances McDonald

Graveside Service for Frances McDonald, 84 of Temple, OK was held at the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK on Monday, July 16 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Jay Driskill officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Frances Luease (Buttrum) McDonald was born to Ezra and Lena (Dean) Buttrum on November 27, 1933 at Creal, IL and departed this life in Corpus Christi, TX on July 11, 2018 at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 14 days. Frances grew up in southern Illinois and then made her home for several years in the Del Rio and San Antonio areas of Texas. She married Roy Melvin McDonald on November 22, 1974 in Oklahoma City, OK. They called Wichita Falls, TX their home but moved around with Roy’s electrical contracting job. They settled east of Walters, OK in 1980 where they owned and operated McD’s Bait and Grocery until 1989. Roy preceded her in death in 2004.
