Royce Bowers

Graveside Services for Royce Bowers, 84, Clinton, OK will be at the Temple Cemetery, Temple, OK, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 12:00 Noon with Full Military Honors, Rev. Christy Clark officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Royce Eldon Bowers was born to Clifford Lee and Neva Mae (Gower) Bowers on February 6, 1934 at Randlett, OK and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on June 26, 2018 at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 20 days. Royce grew up at Temple, OK, graduating from THS in 1952. He then joined the United States Air Force of which he made a career. He served in Rapid City, SD, Beale AFB in California, and then to Shreveport, LA, then overseas as he was a Vietnam Veteran. He eventually returning to Altus AFB, then to Canada before retiring with 26 years in 1978 at Gulfport, MS. Following his proud military career, he went to work for DuPont in Mississippi. Upon retirement from DuPont he returned to Oklahoma, settling in Moore in 1990.

Clyde Thomas “Pops” High

Funeral Services for Clyde Thomas “Pops” High were held at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ on Merrick Drive on Thursday, June 28, 2018, officiated by Ron Benedick and Willie Sanchez. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, with the assistance of Jared Wiley, Landon Gary, Jordan Gary, Brandon Offield, Cody Offield, Blain Elliott, Bryce Walker and Mason Morris serving as pallbearers. Honorary bearers include the Men’s Prayer Breakfast Group and Clyde’s Golfing Buddies. A time of visitation support for family and friends was on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Harvey Douglas Funeral Home. Clyde was born January 29, 1952 in Mangum, Oklahoma to the late Charles W. High and Pauline (Uselton) High. He went to the 19th hole on Sunday, June 24, 2018 after a full weekend of family fun. Clyde married Debbie Keeton on November 26, 1971. They were blessed with two children and four grandchildren.

Theodore (Teddy) J. Hyde

Theodore (Teddy) J. Hyde was born on August 5, 1936 and was a lifetime resident of Wichita Falls, Texas. He balanced his last act, rejoining with his wife, Louise (Downing), on June 29, 2018. Ted realized his passion for Adagio Acrobatics at the young age of 5 and as the only child of Anna and Walter Hyde had numerous opportunities for his Acrobatics Act to be successful. After foregoing a contract with the Barnum and Bailey Circus in the early ‘70s because he had a young family, Ted continued to perform his act at various events in North Texas. He always loved putting on a show and was known to be a daredevil. If no one else would do it, he would! He was employed as a Millwright with Daniels Construction and worked in other industrial manufacturing businesses. After retiring at an early age, the lake home that he and his son rebuilt was where family always gathered.

Louise Gower

Funeral Services for Louise Gower, 89, Temple, OK will be at the First United Methodist Church, Temple, OK, Thursday, June 28 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Kent Simpson officiating. Burial in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Memorial contributions can be made to the Temple Alumni Association, P.O. Box 298, Temple, OK 73568. Alsie Louise (Stephens) Gower was born to James Orville and Edna (Wilson) Stephens on February 17, 1929 east of Randlett, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on June 23, 2018 at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 6 days. Louise grew up in the Taylor Community of southern Cotton County, graduating from Temple High School in 1947. She married Thad Gower on December 24, 1947 at Temple. They made their home in Temple and then the Gower home place before building their current home in 1965.

Annagene Nickerson

Funeral Service for Annagene Nickerson, 88, of Comanche, OK were held at Corum Baptist Church, Corum, OK, Wednesday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m., Bill Nickerson and Roy Snider officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Interment was at 2:00 p.m. that same afternoon in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK. Visitation was held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial Donations can be made to Cotton County 4-H Foundation, 301 N. Broadway, Walters, OK 73572. Nancy Annagene Nickerson was born to Frederick Darl and Nancy Jeanettie (Grimes) Dunbar on April 22, 1930 in Temple, OK and departed this life in Duncan, OK on June 22, 2018 at the age of 88 years and 2 months. Annagene attended Beaver Creek School east of Walters and finished at Walters High in the Class of 1947. She married Elmer Lee Nickerson on May 12, 1948 in Duncan, OK. The couple moved to Ventura County, California in August of 1949.

Terrance Tisdale

Funeral Services for Terrance Tisdale, 23, Walters, OK will be held at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK, Friday, June 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Kevin Simpson officiating. Interment in Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home. Viewing in Walters on Wednesday and in Temple on Thursday. Terrance Ray Tisdale was born to Billy Ray and Karen Marie (Woods) Tisdale on December 28, 1994 at Lawton, OK and departed this life on June 16, 2017 in Waurika, OK at the age of 23 years, 5 months and 19 days. Terrance attended school in Walters thru the 3rd grade and enjoyed playing little league baseball at Walters. He finished school in Temple where he enjoyed playing football and basketball for the Tigers. He graduated from THS in 2014. Since high school he has done farm work, went on harvest with the Bachands and worked at Goodyear for a time.

Bobby Newby

Funeral Services for Bobby Newby, 72, Randlett, OK were held at New Salem Baptist Church, Walters, OK, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Ron Bartoli officiating with burial in the Elm Grove Cemetery with Military Honors. Bobby Gene Newby was born to Robert and Zella Loretta (Shelton) Newby on April 16, 1946 in rural Walters, OK and departed this life at his home in rural Randlett, OK east of Cookietown at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 28 days. Bobby grew up at Walters, graduating from Walters High School in 1964. He soon committed to the United States Air Force and attended school to become a jet engine tech. He served 7 years with the Air Force which included a stint overseas in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He discharged at Tinker AFB as a staff Sergeant in 1973. After his time in the service he moved to the Meridian community and worked for Haliburton Services, then to Bill Beene Ford as a mechanic, did transporting for Joe D.

Memorial donations can be made to Union Valley Baptist Church, 189028 Hwy 277, Randlett, OK 73562-4526 Travis Franklin Kinder was born to Corinne Elizabeth “Trixie” (Uzzell) and James William Kinder Sr. on May 16, 1939 in Wichita Falls, TX and departed this life in Lawton, OK on June 6, 2018 at the age of 79 years and 21 days. Travis grew up at Cookietown, OK and graduated from Union Valley School in 1957. He married Janice Bessemer on December 19, 1959 at Chattanooga, OK and to the union 4 children were born. Early on the family lived in Frederick where Travis worked for Brantly Helicopter, blowing the bubble windshield.

C.E. “Gene” Sanders

Celebration of Life Memorial Service for C.E. “Gene” Sanders, 81, Hastings, OK will be held at Hastings Baptist Church, Saturday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m. with Ronnie Bohot officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. C.E. “Gene” Sanders Jr., also known as Bud, was born to Crate Eugene and Emma Frances (Patterson) Sanders on August 10, 1936 at Amarillo, TX and departed this life in Duncan, OK on June 8, 2018 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 29 days. Gene grew up in Westville, OK. At age 18 he moved to Glendale, CA, living with a cousin. There he met Mary Lou Ripley and they later married on February 14, 1956 at Glendale. They eventually made their way to Coolidge, AZ, where they lived until moving to Hastings, OK in 1972. Gene spent most of his life as a cross country trucker.

Kevin Ira Varner

It is with great sadness the family of Kevin Ira Varner announce his passing after a sudden illness on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the age of 39 years. Kevin was born July 31, 1978, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Kevin graduated from Walters High School in 1996, received his Bachelor’s degree from Cameron University with a major in Animal Science and minor in Chemistry in 2000. Kevin worked for Excel Meat Packers Plainview, Texas, OSU Extension in Cleveland and Stephens Counties as an 4-H Educator, the Oklahoma Conservation Commission, as well as a farmer and rancher. Kevin loved showing good sheep, riding reining horses, turkey and deer hunting, and working with kids. Kevin’s most favorite season was during wheat harvest running the combines and trucks.
