Betty Jo Kindred

Funeral Services for Betty Jo Kindred, 88 of Temple, were held at the Church of Christ, Temple, OK, Tuesday, January 22 at 2:00 p.m., Josh Mallow officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple.

Betty Jo Lipscomb was born on March 17, 1930 in Temple, Oklahoma to Ruth Lipscomb....She was raised by her grandparents, John and Effie Lipscomb...

She attended the Gregg Country School through 9th grade, transferring to Temple High School...So she could make it to school on time...she was allowed to move into town and share rent with another girl, while she finished high school...

During this time, she began waitressing for a cafe owned by two brothers, Jack and Gene Kindred, with meals being part of her pay.......She graduated from Temple High School in 1948.

Renea Wood

Memorial Service for Renea Wood, 47, Walters, OK will be at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Roger Noland officiating.

Renea Christine (Gresham) Wood was born to Wesley Edward and Darlene Sue (Slimp) Gresham on November 28, 1971 at Lawton, OK and departed this life in Walters, OK on January 15, 2019 at the age of 47 years, 1 month and 18 days.

Renea grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS in 1990. She married Ray Wood in 1995 and he preceded her in death in 2017. She has been a homemaker and enjoyed fishing when able and loved baby sitting her granddaughter, Aspen.

She was also preceded in death by her father, Wesley Gresham; her uncle, Andy Slimp Jr.; her grandfather, Andy Slimp Sr.; and her grandma, Agnes Brinker.

Connie Doake

Funeral services for Connie Doake, 71, Ratliff City, OK were held at Ratliff City First Baptist Church, Monday, January 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., Caleb Holbrook officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters with burial in the Sandy Bear Cemetery.  Visitation was on Sunday afternoon from 3-5:00 pm at Hart-Wyatt.

Connie Pearl (Martin) Doake was born to Jessie Walter and Alice Dorothy (Kittrell) Martin on November 4, 1947 at Lawton, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on January 9, 2019 at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 5 days.

Mary Lindsey

Funeral Service for Mary Lindsey, 76, Walters, OK was held at First Baptist Church, Walters, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., Dr. Jack Jacob officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Mary Arlene (Langford) Lindsey was born to Lee and Geneva Gertrude (Winton) Langford on October 16, 1942 at Comanche, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on January 12, 2019 at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 27 days.

Mary grew up at Hulen and Walters, OK, graduating from WHS in 1960. She then married Farris Dell Lindsey on April 8, 1961 at Lawton, OK and to the union 3 sons were born. They made their home at Lawton, Midwest City and Oklahoma City where she worked at the State Heath Department. They returned to Walters in 1984 and she worked 20 years as a program assistant for ASCS, retiring in 2006.

Philip Henry Beard

Philip Henry Beard, 74, was born on January 25, 1944, in Enid OK, and passed away on December 12, 2018, in OKC. His parents were James Charles Beard and LaVerne Opal (Dowell) Beard. Phillip served in the US Navy for 13 years as a photographer and earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He did considerable aerial mapping of Antarctica during Operation Deep Freeze while in the Navy, and has a mountain named after him in Antarctica called Beard’s Peak. While stationed in El Centro, California, he was active with the local Jaycees, and was involved in the beginning of Special Olympics for Southern California in 1970.

Philip married his wife, Jennie Lee (Mills) Beard on November 16, 1968, and they had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple has four children.

Helen Wyatt

Graveside Services for Helen Wyatt, 92, Duncan, OK were held at Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Helen Jo (Stamper) Wyatt was born to William Curry and Eva Madeline (Wash) Stamper on December 27, 1926 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Duncan, OK on January 5, 2019 at the age of 92 years and 9 days.

Helen grew up at Walters and graduated with the WHS Class of 1944 before attending 2 years at OBU. She married Justice Tillman “J.T.”  Wyatt on February 22, 1946 at Walters. Upon J.T.’s graduation from mortuary school the couple made their home in Temple and soon began a family. They moved to Walters in late 50’s and Helen was employed at Cotton Electric for a time. In 1969 they bought out their partner in Pearson Funeral Home, renaming it Wyatt Funeral Home. Helen kept books for the business until she and J.T. retired in 1984.

Brantley Tillery officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Inurnment will be held at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK, that same afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Date to be announced for a memorial service in Ohio at a later time.

Mark Steven “Steve” Burns was born to Norman Dwight and Janice Marie (Stoudinger) Burns on June 17, 1956 at Bowling Green, OH and departed this life in Lawton, OK on December 22, 2018 at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 5 days.

Donna Reene (High) Goode

Services for Donna Reene Goode were Thursday, December 27, 2018 11:00 AM at The Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Tolbert officiating. A visitation for family and friends was Wednesday evening from 6-7 PM at Craddock Funeral Home.

Donna was born March 14, 1947 in Walters, Oklahoma to Charles Walters High and Pauline Francis (Uselton) High.

She passed from this life on December 23, 2018 in Ardmore at the age of 71.

Funeral Services for Donald Simpson, 78, Walters, OK was held at First United Methodist Church, Walters, OK on Wednesday, January 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., nephews Rev. Kevin Simpson and Rev. Kent Simpson officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Viewing was held Sunday from 1-8:00 pm with visitation on Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 pm.

Donald Lee Simpson was born to Hubert T. and Frances Ellen (Reece) Simpson on April 23, 1940 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on December 27, 2018 at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 4 days.

Darrell Wayne Dilks

Darrell Wayne Dilks, Sr., retired OG&E Guthrie District Superintendent , was born to Eolie Earl and Ledonia Blanche (Cochran) Dilks on June 30, 1924, north of Temple, Oklahoma, in his beloved short grass country as the third of eleven children. He passed away in Edmond, Oklahoma on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Darrell grew up in Temple attending Pioneer School before graduating from Temple High in 1942. He married his childhood sweetheart, Ernestine Lillian Shaw on September 11, 1943. He reported for active duty in the U.S. Army on October 12, 1943.
