Marilyn Kidd

Funeral Services for Marilyn Kidd, 88, of Duncan, OK will be at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Thursday April 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., Bro. Dee Bowen Officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Memorial Contributions may be made to Chisholm Trail Hospice, 2000 W. Elk, Duncan, OK 73533.

Marilyn Kidd was born to Roland and Mildred Emma McCorkle Varner June 5, 1930 in Walters, OK and departed this life on April 7, 2019 at Comanche, OK at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 2 days.

She grew up in Walters, OK and graduated from Walters High School in 1948. She married Bill J. Kidd on November 17, 1950 in Walters. She worked at the Walters and Duncan Tag Agencies and took off in between to raise her children. She later became the Duncan Tag Agent for many years.

Marilyn loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

VirginiaElizabeth(Watson) McCammon was born to Ephriam Acilee and Mary Etta Frances (Hawkins) Watson on September 16, 1922 in Walters, OK and departed this life in Walters on April 1, 2019 at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 10 days.

Liz grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS. She married Charles Stephen McCammon on June 26, 1942 in Temple, Oklahoma and to the union two children were born, Charles Stephen McCammon, Jr. and Linda Yvone McCammon Turk.

Alice Trotter

Funeral Services for Alice Trotter, 73, Cookietown, OK were held at Union Valley Baptist Church, Cookietown, OK, Tuesday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Arbuary Ritter officiating. Burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Alice Marie (Dale) Trotter was born April 20, 1945 in Ada, OK to Benjamin Harris and Iva Matilda (Roach) Dale and departed this life in Temple, OK on March 28, 2019 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 8 days.

Alice grew up in the Ada area eventually making her home and working in Duncan, OK. There she met and later married David Eugene Trotter on June 4, 1994 at Faith Mission Church. They made their home at Cookietown. She was a homemaker and also worked for Dominos Pizza assembling to-go boxes.

Alice attended Union Valley Baptist Church. She loved doing bead work and making calendars. She also loved having her hair dyed red.

Betty Jo Latimer

Betty Jo Latimer, age 93, of Argyle, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019, in Flower Mound, Texas.

She was born August 7, 1925 in Durant, Oklahoma to Seth Tolley Coker and Ellen Lucinda Conway Coker. Betty married Jack Latimer who preceded her in death on Marh 5, 2002.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Chancellor; grandchildren, Kim Garza, Brandy Reid and Ross Mc-Farland; great grandchildren, Jessica Garza, Ryan McFarland and Anna Reid and sister, Carol Jenks. Betty was preceded in death by her son, James McFarland, grandson, Carl “Jeff” Chancellor and ten siblings.

NeldaRuth(Griffin)Dowlen Was born to Olen Smith and Ozella Mae (Wallace) Griffin on June 8, 1926 at Temple, OK and departed this life in Temple on March 4, 2019 at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 24 days.

Nelda grew up in the Duncan and Temple areas, graduating from Duncan High School 1944. She married John Ed Dowlen May 18, 1946 at First Baptist Church in Temple. Through the years she worked for the US Naval Ammunition Depot, Mare Island CA, Temple Public Schools, Temple Milling Co. and Tri County Elderly Nutrition. She retired April 15, 1981.

Clovis Hobgood

Clovis Eugene Hobgood, Jr. was born to Clovis Eugene and Wanda Lou (Jarrell) Hobgood on November 1, 1947 in Walters, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on March 15, 2019 at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 14 days.

Clovis grew up in Walters, graduating from Walters High School in the Class of ‘65. He then attended Cameron College, receiving an associate’s degree before serving his country honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. On May 22, 1971, Clovis married Sherrie L. Priddy in Sherman, TX. They made their home in Carrollton and eventually Lewisville, TX during his 35-year career with Texas Instruments where he served as a Manager of Drafting and Engineering.  Upon his retirement they moved to Tulsa, OK for a time and then lived at the Waurika Lake house for a year before buying their home in Walters in 2005.

Denessa “Sheryl” Campbell

On March 6, 2019 Denessa Sheryl Campbell left to be at peace. Denessa was born February 13, 1956. She was preceeded in death by her father, Earl Fielding; brothers David and Darron; sister Renee Davis and granddaughter Rachel Fulks. She is survived by husband, of 46 years Rex Campbell of Comanche; loving mother Betty Jean Fielding of Burkurnett; sister Janeen and husband Eddie; daughters: Mindy and husband Patrick; Chrissy and husband Larry and Jenny and her son Shane and his wife Tara; 16 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson along with countless aunts, uncles, cousins, neices, nephews, in-laws and friends. She will be missed by those left behind but has already been embraced by those that left before.

Harvey Malcholm Lewis

Harvey Malcholm Lewis was born September 7, 1938 in a small farmhouse near Geronimo, Oklahoma. He was the ninth of ten children born to John Sterling Lewis and Bessie Mixa Lewis. His successful career was guided by strong work ethics learned by working on the family farm as a child. He attended school in a 1-room schoolhouse at Bethel Schools in Cotton County, then went on to graduate from Geronimo High School in 1955. He lettered four years in basketball and baseball.

Pat Parsons

Funeral Services for Pat Parsons, 72, Walters, OK were held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, March 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., with burial in the Walters Cemetery. A Rosary Service was held on Sunday Evening at 6:30 pm.

Patricia Ann “Pat” Parsons was born to William Elmer and Mildred Elizabeth (Menz) Crowley on February 3, 1947 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Walters, OK on March 13, 2019 at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 10 days.

Pat grew up 8 miles east of Walters and graduated from Walters High School in 1965. She married Ernest Earl Parsons on September 30, 1967 at Walters and to the union 3 daughters were born. They moved around with the military until his retirement in 1979, settling back at Walters to help her parents with their farming operation. She also worked for a time at Haggar’s in Temple and following Ernest death in 2000 she worked several years for the Walters School Cafeteria.

Tommy Elliott

Graveside Service for Tommy Elliott, 72, Walters, OK was held at the Walters Cemetery, Wednesday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Arbuary Ritter officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Tommy Joe Elliott was born to Roy and Rosa K. (Bowles) Elliott on October 22, 1946 at Walters and departed this life in Temple, OK on March 17, 2019 at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 23 days.

Tommy lived his early years on a farm north of Walters until the family moved to town while he was in grade school. Through the years Tommy tagged along with various locals on their jobs, helping where he could. You may have said hello to him while entering United Supermarket and he will be remembered by many for his treasure hunting of “things he needed.” He was always looking for money and especially loved coins.
