Orville Dikes

Funeral Services for Orville Dikes, 83, Hastings, OK were held at Hastings Baptist Church, Hastings, Tuesday, December 5, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Charles McConnell officiating with burial in the Hastings Cemetery. Viewing begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 3 at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Orville Leon Dikes was born to Fred Ellis and Lona Olena (Thompson) Dikes on December 23, 1933 at Hastings, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on November 30, 2017 at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 7 days. Orville grew up at Hastings where he was salutatorian of the Class of 1951. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and continued in the Army Reserves until 1962. His service included a stint overseas in Korea following the war. He returned home and began a career with Halliburton in Duncan, OK. On December 29, 1960 he married Mary Lee Standridge at Hastings and to the union a son, David was born. Orville retired after 30 years with Halliburton.

Walters - Mr. Warren “Hoss” Don Cartwright was born on June 13, 1948 in Rubottom, OK to Mr. Walter Emmit Cartwright and Mrs. Beatrice Louise (Eakins) Cartwright. He departed this life Saturday, November 25, 2017 at his home in Walters. Graveside services with military honors are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Alma Cemetery with Gary Thurman and Kent Simpson officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander-Gray Funeral Home in Velma.

Graveside Services for Mark Sevier, 44, Duncan, OK were held at the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK, Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 2:30 p.m., Bishop Cross officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Marshall Leon “Mark” Sevier was born to Leon Irving Jr. and Gwenda Jean (DeMasters) Sevier on December 20, 1972 at Okmulgee, OK and departed this life in Duncan, OK on November 23, 2017 at the age of 44 years, 11 months and 3 days.

Mark grew up at Duncan attending Erving Elementary and Central before moving to Oroville, CA where he attended Oroville High School but soon returned to Duncan. He married Kelly Marie Maness and they had Joshua Leon. Mark later married April Ann Davie and they had Jasmine Marie, April Jean and Marshall Leon.

Kevin Simpson officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery. Visitation at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple was on Wednesday, November 29, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Nelda Sue (Bean) Henderson was born to James Hugh and Grace Lophene (Oller) Bean on May 18, 1936 at Temple, Oklahoma and departed this life at her home in Grapevine, TX on November 27, 2017 at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 9 days.

Sue grew up at Temple, graduating from Temple High in 1954. She married Vernie R. Henderson on April 17, 1954 and to the union 2 children were born. They have made their home at Grapevine, TX, for many years where she was employed as a customer service representative for a film processing company. She has enjoyed photography, boating, camping, and spending time with her family.

Don McGee

Memorial Services for Don McGee, 87, Temple, OK were held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, Tuesday, November 21 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Jay Driskill officiating. Clarence Don McGee was born to George Lester and Meta Kathleen (Chambers) McGee on March 2, 1930 at Temple, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on November 16, 2017 at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 14 days. Don grew up at Temple, the youngest of 7 children. He graduated from Temple High School in 1948 and then attended a year at Oklahoma A&M (OSU). He married Joyce Williams on December 24, 1950 and would have been married 67 years next month. Don served his country in the U.S. Army during the time of the Korean War. He worked many years at Yielding’s Department Store before going to work for the Cotton Electric Coop. He retired in 1992 after 26 years with the company. Don had served on the Temple School Board and enjoyed attending THS sporting events through the years.

Doris Elaine (Almand) Crow was born June 20, 1945 at Waxahachie, TX to Arthur Bernice and Alline Francis (Thedford) Almand and departed this life at her home in Walters, OK on November 16, 2017 at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 27 days. Doris grew up in the Dallas, TX, area and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1963. She then attended Southeastern State College in Durant, OK and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1967.

Anna Belle Taylor

Graveside Memorial Services for Anna Belle Taylor, 97, Temple, OK were held at the Temple Cemetery on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Anna Belle Taylor was born to Francis Hurley and Mabel Alma (Knouse) Taylor on November 18, 1919, southeast of Temple, OK and departed this life in Temple on November 5, 2017 at the age of 97 years, 11 months and 18 days. Anna Belle grew up at Temple, graduating from Temple High School and then attending Cameron College. She worked at Fort Sill and then on to Kansas for a time before settling into a job in Oklahoma City doing title insurance for American Title and Trust Company. She eventually moved back to Lawton and then retired to Temple in the early to mid-1980’s. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Temple. She enjoyed doing ceramics, word puzzles and reading.

Anna Bell Barnes

Graveside services for Anna Bell Barnes, 85, of Duncan were held at 10:00 am Friday in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home with Roger Walkingstick officiating. Anna Bell (Brown) Barnes was born September 24, 1932 at Walters, OK, the daughter of Robert Clarence and Ella Mae (Abbe) Brown and passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in the Country Club Care Nursing and Rehab, Duncan, OK. She and Audley Preston Barnes, Sr. were married at Duncan on December 3, 1949. They made their home in the Meridian Community for many years. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2000. She was a member of the Randlett Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing Bunco, going to chicken shows with her son Andy and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include Son Andy Barnes and wife Darla of Comanche, OK. Son Audley Preston Barnes Jr. and wife Tereasa of McAlister, OK. Grand-son Kolton Barnes of Richardson, TX.

Doss Bivins

Graveside Services for Doss Bivins, 86, Walters, OK will be at the Walters Cemetery, Walters, Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Roger Noland Officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home. Viewing on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dossie James Bivins was born to Clarence Monroe and Verna Cordelia (Carter) Bivins on October 17, 1931, east of Walters near Beaver Creek and departed this life in Lawton, OK on November 13, 2017 at the age of 86 years and 27 days. Doss grew up on Beaver Creek before the family moved to the Geronimo area and later on to Walters. He worked for the City of Walters and the REA for a time before turning to self-employment as a hay hauler and trapper. He also did roughnecking for a time at Hobbs, NM. Doss married Mary Ruth Stapp at Walters in 1952 and to the union 3 children were born. He later married Joanne Stewart on August 11, 1961 in Oklahoma City.

Fred C. Howell, Jr.

Family and friends gathered for a visitation on November 8, 2017 at Temple United Methodist Church, 401 W. Oregon Street, Temple, Oklahoma from 10:30 am until 12:00 noon. Funeral service for Fred C. Howell, Jr. age 87 of Dallas, TX, was held at the same location at 1:00 pm November 8, 2017 with burial to follow in Temple Cemetery in Temple, OK. Fred C. Howell, Jr. passed from this life on November 3, 2017 in Dallas, Texas from a short illness. He will always be remembered as a special person to all that knew and loved him. He was born on November 10, 1929 in Temple, Oklahoma to Fred C. Howell, Sr. and Ethel Elizabeth Howell. He graduated from Temple High School and completed an accounting degree from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas and gained his Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certification at a later date.
