Travis Kinder

Funeral Services for Travis Kinder, 79, Geronimo, OK were held at Union Valley Baptist Church, Cookietown, OK, Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Arbuary Ritter officiating. Burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Memorial donations can be made to Union Valley Baptist Church, 189028 Hwy 277, Randlett, OK 73562-4526 Travis Franklin Kinder was born to Corinne Elizabeth “Trixie” (Uzzell) and James William Kinder Sr. on May 16, 1939 in Wichita Falls, TX and departed this life in Lawton, OK on June 6, 2018 at the age of 79 years and 21 days. Travis grew up at Cookietown, OK and graduated from Union Valley School in 1957. He married Janice Bessemer on December 19, 1959 at Chattanooga, OK and to the union 4 children were born. Early on the family lived in Frederick where Travis worked for Brantly Helicopter, blowing the bubble windshield.

C.E. “Gene” Sanders

Celebration of Life Memorial Service for C.E. “Gene” Sanders, 81, Hastings, OK will be held at Hastings Baptist Church, Saturday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m. with Ronnie Bohot officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. C.E. “Gene” Sanders Jr., also known as Bud, was born to Crate Eugene and Emma Frances (Patterson) Sanders on August 10, 1936 at Amarillo, TX and departed this life in Duncan, OK on June 8, 2018 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 29 days. Gene grew up in Westville, OK. At age 18 he moved to Glendale, CA, living with a cousin. There he met Mary Lou Ripley and they later married on February 14, 1956 at Glendale. They eventually made their way to Coolidge, AZ, where they lived until moving to Hastings, OK in 1972. Gene spent most of his life as a cross country trucker.

Kevin Ira Varner

It is with great sadness the family of Kevin Ira Varner announce his passing after a sudden illness on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the age of 39 years. Kevin was born July 31, 1978, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Kevin graduated from Walters High School in 1996, received his Bachelor’s degree from Cameron University with a major in Animal Science and minor in Chemistry in 2000. Kevin worked for Excel Meat Packers Plainview, Texas, OSU Extension in Cleveland and Stephens Counties as an 4-H Educator, the Oklahoma Conservation Commission, as well as a farmer and rancher. Kevin loved showing good sheep, riding reining horses, turkey and deer hunting, and working with kids. Kevin’s most favorite season was during wheat harvest running the combines and trucks.

Geary Stanton Curtis was born to Sidney Stanton and Etha Mae (Rose) Curtis on July 6, 1938 at Tipton, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on May 24, 2018 at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 18 days. Geary grew up in the Wilson/ Weaver area near Frederick, OK before the family moved south of Geronimo, OK around 1949. He graduated from Geronimo High School in 1956, then attended Cameron College before finishing his bachelor degree at Southwestern in Weatherford. Geary went to work at Herbs in Lawton during college and continued his business career with Coca Cola, Hanover Foods, Melitta and Marylin Coffee Companies, and marketed insect repellent for Cutter.

Funeral Services for Greg Burnaugh, 66, Walters, OK will be at First Baptist Church, Walters, OK, Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Pastors Gary Thurman & Jack Jacob officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters with interment in the Walters Cemetery. The Family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist on Friday prior to the service. Memorial Donations may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 341, Walters, OK 73572. Gregory Taylor Burnaugh was born in Walters, OK on November 15th, 1951 to Wayne Edwin Burnaugh and Ruby Mae Sutton Burnaugh. He left this life to join his Heavenly Father on May 25th, 2018 in Lawton, OK at the age of 66. Greg grew up in Walters and attended Walters Public Schools, graduating from Walters High School in 1970. He attended Cameron University for a short time before returning to Walters to work the family farm alongside his dad. Greg started his career as a farmer.

William Glen Norman was born to James Perry “J.P.” and Verna Lea (Magness) Norman on August 28, 1918 at Temple, OK and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on May 12, 2018 at the age of 99 years, 8 months and 15 days. Glen was raised and attended school in the Gregg community northeast of Temple, OK, graduating from Temple High School in 1937. He married Myrtle Audene Dikes on December 6, 1941 and to the union 2 children, Glenna and Jerry, were born. They were married 76 years. The family made their home north of Temple where they were engaged in farming for many years.

Dorothy Sue Sparks was born to Charles Richard and Joyce Marie (Wainscott) Brown on December 9, 1942 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on May 7, 2018 at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 29 days. Dorothy grew up at Walters. She married Roger L. Studer and to the union 4 daughters were born. As a military wife she traveled the world, making her home in Alaska, Virginia, France and California. She later married Bobby Lee Sparks on January 7, 1976 at Wichita Falls, TX and to the union a son was born. As a construction wife she moved to jobs sites in Texas, Missouri and Kentucky, but made their home in Wichita Falls, Duncan, Empire, Temple and Walters. She was a member of Beaver Creek Cowboy Church.

Mary Vannoy

Funeral Services for Mary Vannoy, 73, Geronimo, OK were held at First Baptist Church, Walters, OK, Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., Pastor Ray Garcia officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Visitation was from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Hart-Wyatt. Mary Kathrine Vannoy was born to Mary Louise (Thomas) and Julius Lemuel Bowen, Sr. on March 7, 1945 in Mt. Vernon, IN and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on April 29, 2018 at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 22 days. Mary grew up in the Sawyer area of Southeastern Oklahoma. She married Johnny Thomas Vannoy, Jr. on October 22, 1961. They made their home in Columbus, OH and Houston, TX for a short time before settling in Walters, OK and eventually Geronimo, OK. They have recently moved to Fletcher, OK. She enjoyed bowling and volunteering on projects for young women.

Dorothy Mae (Bridges) Ille

Dorothy Mae (Bridges) Ille was the daughter of Abbie Mae (Hart) Bridges and Luther Albert Bridges. She was born April 2, 1931 on their bottomland farm on the Red River in Oklahoma. She was the Mother of five: Joan, Charles, Janet, Camille and Patricia. Raymond and Dorothy celebrated their 65th anniversary on August 23, 2017. She was the Grandmother of eleven and the Great-Grandmother of eight. She lived from coast to coast as her husband, Ray, served in the U.S. Air Force. She held down the family fort while he flew many missions to Germany and Saigon and later with Bank of America as a Federal Bank Examiner in seven states. When her last child was nine years old she started working at Merced Junior College as an audio and media clerk. Later she worked full time with California Canadian Bank as a bookkeeper. Then helped run the Walnut Creek, CA School District library system where she worked in the Junior High facility. In 1987 Dorothy and Raymond moved to Roseville.

Sandra “Sandy” Hart

Funeral Services for Sandra “Sandy” Hart, 74, El Reno, OK were held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2018 with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Sandra Sue “Sandy” (Cleaver) Hart was born to Harrell Willard “Bill” and Alice Vivian “PeeWee” (Brownlee) Cleaver on December 10, 1943 at Monroe, LA and departed this life in El Reno, OK on April 26, 2018 at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 16 days. Sandy grew up a military child, living in Louisiana, Puerto Rico, Nebraska and Oklahoma to name a few of the places. She graduated from Altus High School in 1962 and eventually became the managing editor of the Altus Times. She married Bob Hart on November 20, 1973 at Altus. Eventually with the kids raised, the couple moved to El Reno, OK in 1984 where she worked as the advertising director for the El Reno Tribune until she and Bob opened and operated a printing company known as New Age Graphics for a number of years.
