Steve McKinney

Funeral Services for Steve McKinney, 66, Lawton, OK will be at First Baptist Church, Walters, OK, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Viewing will begin on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. Stephen Ray “Steve” McKinney was born to William Ray “Buddy” and Connie Louise (Petty) McKinney on February 24, 1952 at the Walters Hospital and departed this life in Lawton, OK on September 30, 2018 at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 6 days. Steve grew up at Walters until the family moved to Bakersfield, CA, in 1967. They returned to Walters in 1978 and Steve went to work at Goodwill Industries in Lawton where he was employed for 40 years. He has lived in a group home with Quality Enterprise in Lawton since 1988. Steve was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Walters. He enjoyed doing latch hook yarn projects and loved family get togethers. He especially enjoyed his 2 trips to Hawaii.

Brian Tolliver

Memorial Service for Brian Tolliver, 52, Walters, OK was held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Roger Noland Officiating. Brian Keith Tolliver was born to Jerry Lee and Patricia Ann (Williams) Tolliver on February 25, 1966 in Munich, Germany and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on September 28, 2018 at the age of 52 years, 7 months and 3 days. Brian grew up in Walters, OK, graduating from WHS in 1985. He then worked at the Haggar Factory in Temple for a few years and then did pipe fabrication in Aruba for a while. He married Kathy Stapp and to the union a son, Jonathon was born. Brian later married April Kindred and to this union a daughter, Alyssa, was born. He was employed by quality fence of Walters, T&G Construction in Lawton, and then operated heavy equipment at the sand plant for Ingram Concrete. He moved to Houston for a time, working in a parts warehouse before returning home and to the sand plant.

Audean Norman

Funeral Services for Audean Norman, 96 of Temple, OK were held at First Baptist Church, Temple, Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Jay Driskill and Rev. Kevin Simpson officiating with Interment in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Donations can be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 488, Temple, OK 73568. Myrtle Audean (Dikes) Norman was born to Fred Ellis and Lona Olena (Thompson) Dikes on June 28, 1922 in Lawton, OK and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on September 25, 2018 at the age of 96 years, 2 months and 28 days. Audean grew up at Hastings where she graduated from high school in 1939. She married William Glen Norman at FBC, Temple, OK on December 6, 1941 and to the union 2 children, Glenna and Jerry, were born. The family made their home north of Temple where they were engaged in farming for many years. The couple eventually retired and moved to the southside of town in 1981.

Lois June Ehlman

No services are planned at this time for Lois June Ehlman age 86 of Hollister, Missouri formerly of Shell Knob, Missouri. Arrangements and cremation was under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson. She passed away on September 9, 2018 at Point Lookout Nursing and Rehab in Hollister, Mo. Lois was born on September 26, 1931 in Dallas, Oregon the daughter of Sylvester and Myrna Hayes Riggles. She had worked for many years as a secretary for different insurance companies and at one time along with her husband owned and operated a flower shop when they lived in Walters, Ok. She had also worked as a cashier at Presley’s Restaurant in Branson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Ehlman and a son, Robert Ehlman. Amylia is survived by her mother, Maryah Brown of the home; her grandmother, Amy Barbe Brown of Lawton; her uncles, Jonathan Barbe and Marcus Brown both of Lawton; her great grandmother, Mary Watkins and husband Gene of Lawton; and her great-great grandfather, Wayne Barbe of Lawton.

Peggie Adkins

Graveside services for Peggie Adkins, 87, Walters, OK were held at the Walters Cemetery, Tuesday, September 4 at 10:30 a.m. under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Peggie Valine (Kinney) Adkins was born to Robert Simms and Pencie Adell (Elliott) Kinney on March 14, 1931 west of Walters, OK and departed this life in Marlow, OK on August 31, 2018 at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 17 days. Peggy grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS in 1949. She married William Gene “Bill” Durbin and to the union 3 children were born. Making her home in Walters she worked for Civil Service at Fort Sill in finance and accounting for many years. Peggy later married Dan Clayton Adkins on June 15, 1972 at Walters where they lived until moving to Bella Vista, AR in the late 1970’s. They eventually returned to Walters in the mid 2000’s just prior to Dan’s death.

Greg McKown

Gregory Paul McKown, “Bull,” 62, Walters, OK died Aug 24, 2018. He was born June 29, 1956 in Ozark, Alabama to Paul James McKown and Mary Ellen (Gill) McKown. He grew up in Walters, OK and graduated from Walters High School in 1974. Greg was a welder by trade and worked in the refining industry for nearly 40 years. Greg got the nickname “Bull” because he was so bullheaded. He took a stance and stood his ground and when his mind was made up, no one could tell him otherwise. He was a leader in his field with a reputation for running a tight ship where he expected the best from his colleagues with whom he worked side by side. Bull was a master of his trade and taught many men the skills required to provide for their families and he loved to teach those who desired to learn. Greg was the ultimate competitor and nobody was ever going to show Bull up or produce more than he did.

Willie Faye Wood

A Private Interment for Willie Faye Wood, 88, Wichita Falls, TX was held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fairview Cemetery, Randlett, OK. Willie Faye Wood, “Dot,” was born to Velta Curtis (Fowler) and Jink Ervin “JE” Wood on January 29, 1930 at Randlett, OK and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on August 21, 2018 at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 23 days. Willie Faye grew up at Randlett, graduating from Randlett High School in 1949. She made her home in Wichita Falls where she was employed 30 years at Wichita Falls Postal Credit Union, retiring as longtime president in 1994. In retirement she enjoyed traveling and also volunteered many years for a women’s program known as First Step of Wichita Falls. She has enjoyed her stay at Presbyterian Manor which began in 2000 and had moved into their health care unit in June of this year.

Box 485, Walters, OK 73572 Wayne Edwin Burnaugh was born to Aaron O’Neil and Ellen Mildred (Chambers) Burnaugh on January 9, 1922 northeast of Walters, OK and departed this life in Duncan, OK on August 14, 2018 at the age of 96 years, 7 months and 5 days. Wayne grew up northeast of Walters where he attended Lone Star School before finishing at Walters High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII and soon returned to farming. He married Ruby Mae Sutton on June 24, 1950 and to the union a son, Gregory Taylor, was born on November 11, 1951. They made their home on the farm until moving into Walters in 1969 for Greg’s senior year, but Wayne continued farming.

Scott Morgan

Funeral Services for Scott Morgan, 62, Temple, OK were held at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK, Monday, August 20 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Kevin Simpson officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Visitation was from 4-6:00 pm, Sunday, August 19. Scott Barber Morgan was born to Dr. H Don and Sue Morgan in Ardmore, OK on July 23, 1956 and departed this life on August, 15, 2018 in Wichita Falls, TX at the age of 62 years and 23 days. The Morgans moved to Temple and Scott attended Temple Schools for 12 years graduating in 1974. He married Marsha Newsom in August 6, 1977 in Temple and they have 2 children, Kimberly and Kristoffer. Scott had worked as a carpenter for Les Hines Construction, Wayne Person and Halliburton. After a few years with Halliburton he did carpentry once again with Wayne Person before going to work at Goodyear in 1989. He was employed there for the past 29 years.
