Bill Schumpert

Funeral Services for Bill Schumpert, 89, Chattanooga,  OK will be at First Baptist Church, Lawton, OK, Thursday,  August 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.,  Rev. Joe Sanders officiating  and Rev. Lyn Bellamy assisting  under the direction of  Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in  Walters, OK. Interment in the  Walters Cemetery with Military  Honors. Visitation was on  Wednesday evening from 6:00  to 8:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt.  Memorial Donations can be  made to First Baptist Church,  501 SW B Ave., Lawton, OK  73501.  Billy Don Schumpert was  born to G.H. and Hazel (Long)  Schumpert on July 27, 1928 at Grandfield, OK and departed  this life in Lawton, OK on August 14, 2017 at the age of 89  years and 18 days.  Bill grew up southwest of Grandfield, attending school at  Fort Auger and Grandfield before finishing his last 3 semesters  at Chattanooga High School, graduating in the Class of  1946. He then attended and graduated from Cameron College  in 1948 before joining the United States Army that year.

Beth Denham

Funeral Services for Beth Denham, 36, of Ryan, OK were held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., David Wingfield officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Marconia Beth Denham was born to Valton Earl and Charlene (Arles) Denham on February 3, 1981 at Lawton, OK and departed this life in Waurika, OK on August 10, 2017 at the age of 36 years, 6 months and 7 days. Beth grew up at Randlett, OK. She moved to Walters in 2003 and then to Waurika for a time before settling in Ryan 11 years ago. She had worked as a CNA for nursing homes in Walters, Wichita Falls, Meridian, Ryan and Temple. Beth loved spending time with her kids, riding 4-wheelers on the river, and going to Lawton Speedway with family. She was always willing to help any kid in need. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, Valton Earl Denham; an infant brother, Danny Earl Denham; and her fiancé, Ray Wood.

Alice Fletcher

Funeral Services for Alice Fletcher, 90, Temple, OK were held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, Monday, August 14, at 2:00 pm, Rev. Craig Stuke officiating with burial in the Letitia Cemetery. Mary Alice (Roach) Fletcher was born to George Washington and Nancy Elizabeth (Miller) Roach on April 23, 1927, east of Lawton, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on August 9, 2017 at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 17 days. Alice grew up east of Lawton in the Pleasant Valley area where she attended school until attending Empire High School. She married Willard Anderson and to the union 3 children were born. Alice made her home in the Duncan area until moving to Temple where she was employed at the Haggar factory. She also did home health care as well for several years. Alice married Arlan Harvey “Jack” Sutton on April 8, 1977 at Temple and they made their home in Texas and then back to Temple where they lived upon Jack’s death.

Cornelia Jones

Graveside Services for Cornelia Jones, 94, Randlett, OK were held at the Fairview Cemetery, Randlett, Monday, August 7 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Arbuary Ritter officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK. Memorial donations can be made to the Fairview Cemetery, 195608 N. 2500 Rd., Randlett, OK 73562. Cornelia Ruth “Nedie” Jones was born to Roger M. and Grace (Penick) Sanders on September 21, 1922 at Randlett, OK and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on August 2, 2017 at the age of 94 years, 10 months and 12 days. Cornelia grew up at Randlett where she married Johnny Lee Jones on June 19, 1940. The couple made their home south of Randlett where they were engaged in farming and ranching for many years. She was a member of Randlett Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, antiques, garage sales and loved to bargain. She enjoyed keeping a garden and was very mechanically inclined.

Leroy Davis

Memorial Services for Leroy Davis, 80, Temple, OK were held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. Memorial Donations can be made to cancer research. Leroy Davis was born to William Roscoe and Dora Mozell (Grisham) Davis on April 10, 1937 in Bakersfield, CA and departed this life on August 1, 2017 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 22 days. Leroy grew up at Borger, TX. He joined the United States Navy at age 17 and the following year he married Anna Belle Wooldridge in May of 1955. They first made Walters their home and then due to both being employed in Temple they moved there in 1969 where he worked for Dick Evans Construction for many years. In 1980 he began operating Davis Heating and Air. He eventually took the head of maintenance job at Temple Housing Authority serving from 1999 to 2010. He enjoyed years of scuba diving, fishing and golf.

Bill Monroe

Graveside Service for Bill Monroe, 80, Temple, OK was held at the Temple, Cemetery, Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Masonic Rites under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Memorial Donations can be made to the Cache Valley Lodge 530 or the Comanche Lodge 41. Billy Don Monroe was born to Henry Lewis and Jewell Francis (Hooper) Monroe on November 19, 1936, 8 miles south of Temple, OK and departed this life in Temple on August 2, 2017 at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 13 days. Bill grew up south of Temple in the Red Store Community. He graduated from Temple High School in 1954 and then attended Oklahoma City University. He soon figured out college wasn’t for him and headed to Midland, Texas for work. There he met a 16 year old, Juanita Faye Woods and the two married on December 18, 1955 at Midland. While there, 22 years of his employment was with Drill Co. as a welder.

Ray Gene Wood

Funeral Services for Ray Gene Wood, 40 of Ryan, OK were held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, Wednesday, August 9 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Roger Noland officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Ray Gene Wood was born to Patricia Betty Faye (Brewer) and Johnny Edward Wood, I on December 23, 1976 at Idabel, OK and departed this life in Waurika, OK on August 6, 2017 at the age of 40 years, 7 months and 14 days. Ray grew up in the Broken Bow, OK area where he attended school. He moved to Walters, OK in 1995 and married Renea Christine Gresham. He has called Walters his home but for a time in Comanche, Waurika and Ryan. He worked a number of years at Halliburton in Duncan doing pump assembly. He enjoyed mechanics and woodworking, and was loved by his family and kids. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Johnny E. Wood, I; his mother, Patricia Betty Faye Shomo; his maternal grandparents; and his paternal grandpa. Survivors include Renea C.

Morris “Joe” Covington

Morris “Joe” Covington passed away on July 25, 2017 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Joe was born in rural Cotton County, Oklahoma on November 10, 1936 to Morris John Henry Covington and Linnis (Taylor) Covington. Joe grew up in the Temple and Walters, Oklahoma area and worked in the oil fields of Oklahoma and Texas until he was drafted into the Army on March 4, 1959. Joe served two years and was honorably discharged on March 6, 1961 and returned to work in the oil fields. While stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, Joe met and eventually married Ruth (Best) Covington on Feb 20, 1962 in Alpine, Texas. After the birth of their first son, Joseph, the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where their daughter Brenda (Covington) O’Brien and son James were born. Joe worked for Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs as a HVAC mechanic, pneumatic tube messaging repairman and snow-plow driver until his retirement in 2001.

William Wesley Bowles

William Wesley Bowles went to be with the Lord on Monday July 24, 2017. He passed away in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was born June 14, 1923 in Cotton County, Oklahoma. Wesley was raised in Cotton County and attended Union Valley School. He served his country during World War Two in the United States Army. After his service he returned to Cotton County where he married Dorothy Rodolph, together they made their home in Temple and farmed in Cotton County. Wesley enjoyed working, fixing and tinkering with objects and just keeping busy. He loved and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing or cooking outside. As his health began to fail him, Wesley became a resident at the Lawton/Fort Sill Veterans Center. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in 2002.He is survived by his grandchildren; Chris Bowles and wife Karli of Cordell, Jennifer Kennedy and husband Carl Smith of Los Angeles, California.

Kenneth Sevier

Graveside service for Kenneth Sevier, 65, Duncan, OK was held at the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK, Monday, July 31 at 3:00 p.m., Rev. John Croy officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Memorial Donations can be made to the Walters Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 485, Walters, OK 73572. Kenneth Ray Sevier was born to Marie Joyce (Chockpoyah) and Leon Irving Sevier, Sr. on December 16, 1951 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Duncan, OK on July 26, 2017 at the age of 65 years, 7 months and 10 days. Kenneth began attending school at Walters Elementary and then attended Comanche Elementary. The family then moved to the Porterville, CA area where he attended junior high and high school and then later attended Cameron University back in Lawton. He married Deborah Gayle Morris of Foster, OK on April 5, 1975 at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Duncan and to the union 3 sons were born, Jessie Clayton, Donald Ray and William Dakotah.
