Theta Boren

Funeral Services for Theta Boren, 100, Temple, OK were held at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK, Wednesday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Larry Shields and Rev. Jay Driskill Officiating with interment in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Hospice of Wichita Falls or First Baptist Church, Temple, OK. Theta Dollie (Clingman) Boren was born November 12, 1917 east of Walters, OK, to Edward Benjamin and Dora Leah (Johnson) Clingman and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on April 15, 2018 at the age of 100 years, 5 months and 3 days. The twelfth of fifteen children, Theta grew up at Walters, Temple and Lindsay, OK. She married Hoyt Juan Boren on April 17, 1938 and to the union 5 children were born. Through the years she worked at Yielding’s Department Store, Scott’s Level Best, Haggar Slacks, waitressed in Lindsay, and eventually retired after several years as a Store Manager for 711 Corporation.

Alice Jo Hilliary

Alice Jo Hilliary passed away April 7, 2018 She was 86 years old. Alice Jo Hilliary “Jo” was born in Medicine Park, OK on March 16, 1932 the daughter of Alice Tidmore and Albert Henry Tidmore. She met and married Edward A. Hilliary Jr. “Junior” on March 18, 1950. Jo lived a rich and full life of service to her faith, family and others. She loved sharing her faith with others and taught Sunday school for 30 years at the Medicine Park Baptist Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and very much enjoyed fellowship and friendship with others. She was generous with her time and the fruits of her success. Helping children was always close to her heart. Many years ago, when her church began attending Falls Creek, she stepped forward to purchase a cabin for her church in the hope that more children would come to know the Lord. She instilled in each of her children and grandchildren a love of community, a generous spirit, and an entrepreneurial drive.

Jean Park Hazlewood

Funeral Services for Jean Park Hazlewood, 85, Ft. Worth, TX were held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walters, OK, Saturday April 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with interment in the Walters Cemetery. Jean Park Hazlewood was born to Virgil Lee and Norma Frances (Martin) Park on May 13, 1932 in Walters, OK and departed this life in Ft. Worth, TX on April 3, 2018 at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 21 days. Jean grew up in Walters and attended Walters schools, graduated from WHS in 1950. She married, Duane Priddy, and later married Fred L. Hazlewood Jr. She was a certified genealogist from 1965-1989, and member of DAR from 1970-1989. She enjoyed quilting, making ceramic dolls, and watching her grand and great grandkids grow up. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Duane Priddy and Fred L. Hazlewood; son, E.

Visitation on Friday evening, April 6, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK. Eleanor Marjorie Deeming Dolman, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2018. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Richard Arthur Dolman. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Dolman Webb and her husband, Roy; her son, Paul Harold Dolman and his wife, Audrey; grandchildren, Jessica Lauren Dolman, Keith Henry Webb, Logan Arthur Webb and Kelsey Elizabeth Dolman; sister in-law, LaMonte Spier Dolman; nephew, Denver Dolman; nieces, Linda Dolman Moore and Cindy Yielding Donovan; and several cousins. Eleanor was born on April 19, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois at the beginning of the Great Depression as the only child of Albert Victor Deeming and Ruth Evelyn Landhy Deeming.

Funeral Services for JoAnn Weaver, 80, Temple, OK were held at the Church of Christ, Temple, OK, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Don Crow Officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple with interment in the Temple Cemetery. Visitation was on Tuesday evening from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt in Temple. Wilma JoAnn Weaver was born to Eunice Leona (Houston) and Charles Orval Byerly on December 6, 1937 in Vanoss, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on March 31, 2018 at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 25 days. JoAnn grew up in the Comanche, OK, area but for a time in Fort Worth, TX. She married Elvis Louis Weaver on September 26, 1954 in Comanche and to the union 3 daughters where born. They made there home at Temple where JoAnn worked for Haggar at Temple Manufacturing for 27 years. After retiring from Haggar she continued doing various seamstress jobs, including making Mo Betta shirts from home.

Tommy Wayne Whitehead was born February 6, 1960 in Lawton, OK to Tommy and June (Crow) Whitehead and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on April 2, 2018 at the age of 58 years, 1 month and 27 days. Tommy graduated from Cache High School in 1978. He later married Melissa Dawn Keesee on January 2, 1993 in Cache. He loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed playing cards and dominos. Spending time with family meant everything to him. Tommy worked in the grocery industry for over 35 years. He was a member of the Crystal Hills Freewill Baptist Church.

Frank Kinney

Box 485, Walters, OK 73572 James Frank Kinney was born to Pencie Adell (Elliot) and Robert Arlen Kinney on February 1, 1933 in the Emerson Community west of Walters, OK and departed this life in Duncan, OK on March 22, 2018. Frank’s father was killed when he was 8 months old and his mother was left with 3 very young children with no means of earning money. The memories of his mother’s struggle and his own feelings of insecurity during those years remained through his entire life. He always held his mother in high esteem because of the hardship and sacrifices she endured in order to care for her children.

James Gilliam

James Gilliam, 72, of Lorena, Texas, passed away on March 15, 2018 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services were 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, with Rev. Javier Leyva officiating. James was was born November 20, 1945 in Walters, Oklahoma to Warren Sylvester “Toots” Gilliam and Lucy Jane Lorene Gilliam. He graduated from Walters High School in 1964. After graduation James served his country in the Army before being honorably discharged. James’s professional life took him from Oklahoma to Wyoming before finally settling in Texas. James was an entrepreneur at heart who possessed a unique talent for storytelling and sales. He began his career in retail sales with Gibson’s Department Stores before working in the insurance and home building industries. James continued his sales career with Carmax where he retired as the Sales Manager after 15 years of service.

Bill Lockwood officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Christine Elizabeth (Eslick) Martin was born to Austin Charles and Minnie Violet (Sutton) Eslick on February 18, 1943 in Lugert, OK and departed this life in Denison, TX on March 15, 2018 at the age of 75 years and 25 days. Christine grew up at Duncan, OK. She married Durward Don Martin on January 25, 1964 at Waurika, Oklahoma and to the union 3 children were born. Christine had attended Vernon Regional School, and had completed police academy and jailor school, as she was a certified police officer and dispatcher for the City of Iowa park. She retired a peace officer for the city. She also worked in the mess hall and did grounds maintenance for Civil Service at Sheppard Air Force Base for a few years.
