The Walters Chamber of Commerce will be having their annual banquet on January 20, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. You can get tickets at Buzzin’ Around Flowers and Gifts or City Hall, the cost is $10 per person. The evenings  entertainment will be the Walters High School Choir

3 Injured In Cotton County Oil Battery Tank Fire

WALTERS - Three people were injured in a Sunday night oil battery tank fire explosion that spread into a grass fire in rural Cotton County. The fire was reported at approximately 6:10 p.m. near the intersection of Trail Road and Holiday Road north of 53 and west of Oklahoma 65 northeast of Walters

Electric bills to rise in Walters

WALTER – City of Walters electrical customers will see their bills increase starting in 2014. City Manager John Sheppard said the city will start reading meters in January using the higher rate, but users won’t see any increases
until their March bills

Cotton County Conservation District and NRCS held their annual open house and locally led meeting on December 20, 2013 and honored Earl & Ardenia Cox as the Cotton County Conservation  Districts 2013 Outstanding
Cooperators. Earl & Ardenia Cox were chosen for their efforts in soil and water conservation.

Corporate donations benefit youth programs for Chisholm Trail Heritage Center

Chisholm Trail Heritage Center was the recipient of two $500 donations in December for use in its education programs which serves students from throughout the state of Oklahoma. C o t t o n E l e c t r i c a n d Chisholm Trail Farm Credit each made donations to the museum, which is an award winning Great Expectations Model School, the only nonprofit in the state to have such status

Electric Rate Increase for the City of Walters

All percentages are based on annualized numbers, meaning that I calculated the rates using the exact same kWh sales numbers. In the real world this never happens so the actual rate of change varies a bunch. The
calculations are probably on the high side

Walters Annual Christmas Parade – 2013

Walters Car Cruz Princess Nevaeh Cruz, Fourth of July Princess Shooter Herr, The Walters Elementary Singing Sensations led by Denise Tulloh entertained the crowd with Christmas Songs-Great Job! In addition, the Walters
Band, directed by Sam Crosby played a Christmas Song for the crowd; they are small in size but big on sound. The Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma Service 636 and Dance 4 Ever Studio was also much welcomed guest

CECF announces recent contributions

Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters – set enough of them aside on a regular basis, and the coins add up to dollars. That’s how Operation Round Up works. Most Cotton Electric members  participate in ORU, in which power bills are rounded up to the nearest dollar.
