2013 Annual Community Christmas Service Date Set

It has been said so many times that the Annual Community Christmas Service signifies the beginning of the Christmas season for many in Walters. Even though the commercialism of Christmas started in October, the real reason for the season has always been shared by the special selections provided by churches and schools in December.

Denise Tulloh Renews Commitment to the Profession as a National Board Certified Teacher

Walters, Oklahoma– November 15, 2013– Denise Walters Public School, Denise Tulloh with several of her students Denise Tulloh Renews Commitment to the Profession as a National Board Certified Teacher
Tulloh, a teacher of PK-5 Elementary Music Education at Walters Public Schools, has renewed her National Board Certification through a rigorous, performance-based, peer-review process. Like Board certification in  professions such as medicine and architecture, National Board Certification is the highest mark of accomplishment in teaching.

Cotton County Commissioner and Employees Lend A Helping Hand To Walters Public School

Walters Public School Superintendent, Jimmie Dedmon, asked for the assistance of Cotton County Commissioner, Ed Eschiti, in preparing the ground for the two new additions for Walters Public Schools. Ed agreed with the help of his Foreman, Charles Holybee, and their six man crew, including: Don Ottwell, Roy Simms, Billy Ray Tisdale, Jared Whitehead, Wes Eidson, and Jacob Amos. The crew broke ground on August 13, 2013 at 7:00 a.m. at the Vo. Ag. building. They dug out a perimeter of approximately 40’x60’ and dug down 6’ deep at both the Elementary school addition and the Vo-Ag building

Dahlia Garden Club Holds November Meeting

The Dahlia Garden Club a member of the Oklahoma Garden Clubs, Inc. and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. met at the Walters Public Library, Wednesday November 6, 2013. The meeting opened with the Gardener’s Creed led y Melanie Mason-Spence, President. She also introduced guest Lucy Clinton, Southwest District President for Oklahoma Garden Clubs

Shan2013 Veterans Day held at Walters Public School

The students and staff of Walters Public Schools held a special “Veteran’s Day Celebration”, on Nov. 11 at 9:00 a.m. in the High School Gymnasium. The program included The Pledge of Allegiance led by the Walters Girl couts, performance by the Elementary Singing Sensations, High School Varsity Choir, High School Band and recognition of Veterans, and special speaker Seareant First Class Shannon D. Hanks.

Hydro and Cache Women Win Miss SWOSU Titles

Hailey Raetz, a Hydro junior at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, won the crown of Miss SWOSU 2014, while 17-year-old student Even Mazur of Cache High School won the title of Miss SWOSU’s Outstanding Teen at Saturday’s (November 9) pageants.

Cotton County voters face liquor issue

Cotton County residents once again will have an opportunity to vote on whether to allow businesses in the county to serve liquor by the drink. According to Oklahoma’s liquor laws, on-site consumption of individual drinks to customers is only allowed if voters of the county have approved such sales.
