Funeral service for Dannie Dale “Smitty” Smith, 69, of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016 at First Christian Church with Rev. Brandon Johnson, officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. Mr. Smith passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Lawton. There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Dannie was born on June 9, 1947 in Lawton, Oklahoma. His parents were Claude Franklyn and Hazel Rose (Yates) Smith. He grew up in Lawton where he attended school, graduating from Lawton High School. He joined the United States Air Force in September of 1966 and served his country until March of 1971. He also worked for Walters Fire Department, Walters Lumber Company and Martin’s Furniture Store. He begin working for Goodyear Tire and Rubber in 1984. He married Denise Lynn Fields on November 25, 1976 in Walters, Oklahoma. Dannie enjoyed riding his Goldwing Motorcycle. He liked to go to the casino, fish, and play dominoes. He loved to tell stories and make people laugh. He was always looking for a bargain at garage sales. He was a collector of knives, cars and antiques. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed outings with his family. He was affiliated with First Christian Church. He will be missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Denise, of the home; his son, Joseph Dale Smith, of Lawton, OK; two daughters, Danyle Lynn Smith, of Stillwater, OK and DeAnn Denise Armstrong, of Lawton, OK; his brother, Gary Franklyn Smith, of Del City, OK; his grandchildren, Jazzlynn Shantel Portalatin, of Stillwater, OK, Trinity Christian Fisher, of Ardmore, OK, Chase Thomas Armstrong, of Lawton, OK, Kandise Kay Smith, of Lawton, OK, and Kevin Craig Smith, of Lawton, OK; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends.
