Monte Ray Clampitt, who had been ill for several years, went to his eternal home with the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 27, 2015 while surrounded by his loving family. Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Fairview Cemetery in Randlett, Oklahoma with Rev. Mark Simons, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett. Monte was born on September 4, 1934 to Bert A. and Ione (Lee) Clampitt in the Randlett, Oklahoma community. He grew up on a farm in this community and graduated from the then Randlett High School and later attended Cameron University. In 1956, he married Donna Priddy and they moved to Burkburnett where they worked and raised their three sons of whom Monte was so proud. Monte, always a farmer at heart, loved the land and the cattle, and was never so happy as he was working on his farm in the Randlett community which had been homesteaded by his maternal grandparents, James Russell and Ella (Peterson) Lee. Monte was always known as a cheerful hard worker which farmers have to be. He worked forty plus years for the Bell Oil and Gas Company of Burkburnett which later became Total Petroleum Company when he retired in 1996. Monte is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Donna; three beloved sons, Russell Allen Clampitt, Don Ray Clampitt and wife Susie, and Monte Lee Clampitt and wife Tammy all of Burkburnett; his only brother, Richard Lee Clampitt and wife Maria of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Cindy Underwood, Michelle Marines, Ciara Clampitt, Garrett Clampitt, Grant Clampitt, Gavin Clampitt, and Cianna Clampitt; two nieces; and many cousins and friends. Monte will be greatly missed as a husband, dad, grandpa, brothers and friend. The family received friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.
