Funeral service for Gladys Marie Cassell, 85 of Faxon will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Royce Littrell and Rev. Ken Baden, officiating. Mrs. Cassell passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at her home in Faxon. Interment will be at Faxon Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Gladys was born on November 18, 1929 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Forrest Rhodes, Sr. and Ruby Rupe Rhodes, the second oldest of six children. She attended school in Faxon, graduating in 1947. She then attended Cameron College from 1947 to 1949, Oklahoma A & M (OSU) from 1949 to 1952 and received her Master’s Degree from Oklahoma University in 1968. She was a Educator who taught grades Kindergarten to 12th grade at Indiahoma, Prairie Lee, Lone Wolf, Central Junior High and Eisenhower Junior High where she retired. Gladys married Lawrence W. Cassell (L.W.) on June 1, 1956 in Lawton, Oklahoma and they were long time members of Wesley Chapel Church. They were church treasurers and taught Sunday School for many years. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Lawrence Wayne and Tonia Cassell, of Faxon, OK; her daughter and son in law, Nancy Marie and James Keeter, of Walters, OK; her sister, Francis Goodin, of Lawton, OK; three brothers and two sisters in law, Glenn Rhodes, of Spokane, WA, Donnie and Minnie Rhodes, of Cache, OK and Richard and Rhonda Rhodes, of Faxon, OK; her grandchildren, Larry Wayne Cassell and his wife, Jessica, of Chattanooga, James Robert Cassell and his wife, Dena, of Chattanooga, Kristen Mechele Trogdon and husband, Jared, of Paris, IL, Whitney Cassandra Peck and husband, Matthew, of Duncan, OK and Ashton Paige Keeter, of Walters, OK; great grandchildren, Jacilayne, Jaren, Layne, Kasen, Krayten, Suttyn and Stetson; several nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, L.W.
