The Walters Varsity baseball team ended their 2024 regular season after defeating 7th ranked Navajo and (3A) Frederick and extended their record to 23 wins and 5 losses. The highly ranked Navajo Indians were 24-1 on the season prior to the contest in Walters. Both teams were strong defensively and ultimately, the Blue Devils prevailed in the 3-1 win. Lance Martin II pitched for the Blue Devils. The Junior pitcher threw a complete game, striking out 10 batters, allowing 6 hits, 1 run, and walking 3. Offensively, Gage Sansome and Cash Thomas provided offense with 2 hits each, while Maverick Cooke, Tucker Teakell, and Martin each had 1 hit. Sansome, Martin and Teakell were each credited with 1 RBI in the game.

In the final game of the regular season, the Blue Devils celebrated Senior night by beating the Frederick Bombers 7-5. Walters opened up the scoring in the 1st inning after John Jones singled on a line drive to left field and scored both Gage Sansome and Lance Martin. The Bombers tied the game in the top of the 3rd inning thanks to an RBI triple and another run scored on a ground ball to Short Stop Creed Shortt. Walters re-gained the lead after back-to-back hits by Tucker Teakell and Jace Morgan and then held on for the win. Jones and Martin led offensively for the Blue Devils with 2 hits each. Thomas, Cooke, Teakell, and Morgan each collected 1 hit. Teakell led the team with 3 RBIs and Sansome had 3 stolen bases.

Defensively against Frederick, John Jones took the mound for the Blue Devils. In 4 innings, the Junior pitcher struck out 10 batters, giving up only 4 hits, 4 runs and 2 walks. Creed Shortt came in relief of Jones and pitched 2 innings surrendering only 2 hits and striking out 2 batters. Sophomore Caleb Merdan closed the game with 2 strikeouts, no hits or runs, and 2 walks. The Blue Devils will begin the post season when they host the Mangum Tigers for the District Championship.
