Electricity for Cotton Electric Co-operative probably will be furnished by the Walters municipal plant, city officials announced this week. Contract offered by the city to the co-operative has been approved tentatively by the chief of the REA rate section in Washington...A son, Orten Neal, was born March 28 to Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Irvin, who reside in the Ahpeatone community...A son, Lee Rayne, was born March 30 to Mr. and Mrs. Guy Parks...A son was born March 31 to Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Hooper, of Temple...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Chambers, of Temple Route 1, on March 21...Mr. and Mrs. Emery Martin, of the Union Valley community, have named their baby son, David Lee...Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Mitchell have opened a general merchandise store in the old drug store building at Randlett.

Mrs. Romie Selman, pioneer resident of Walters, was honored at a coffee at her home Monday, March 23, in celebration of her 90th birthday. Hostesses were her daughters, Mrs. Frank Wirsching, of Tulsa, Mrs. T. J. White, of Lawton, and Mrs. C. R. Dugan, of Childress, Texas. A son, Hubert Selman, of Childress, was unable to attend...Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Snyder, of Walters, will be honored with an open house Sunday, April 5, at the Cotton Electric Civic Room in celebration of their Golden Wedding anniversary. They were married in Walters April 1, 1914. Mrs. Snyder, the former Miss Minnie McNeil, came to Oklahoma from Mississippi with her parents in November, 1901, and settled on a farm near Geronimo. Mr. Snyder came with his parents from Kentucky to a farm near Walters in February, 1903. Mr. Snyder is a retired gin manager and was employed with Chickasha Cotton Oil Co. for 33 years.

Valedictorian of the 1984 senior class of Temple is Stephen Haley, son of Ken and Wanda Haley. Co-salutatorians are Machelle Dupler, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Lester Dupler, and Larry Newsom, son of Thomas and Mary Nell Newsom...Clyde L. Johnson, a native Oklahoman now living in Boyne City, Michigan, has been named general manager of Cotton Electric Cooperative to replace William Miller, who resigned last October. Emmett King has been interim manager...Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gandy were honored at a reception celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary Saturday, March 17. Wayne and the former Ova Wann were married in 1934 in Duncan...Mary and Max Parrish, Jr. announce the birth of their daughter, Crystal Lynne, born March 20. Grandparents are Lahoma Behnke, Faye Parrish, Max and Jeannette Parrish...The Walters Board of Education has hired Daniel D. Cocannauer as head football coach.

Jack Jackson’s Barber shop and Mullens Cafe both have been remodeled and generally improved in appearance...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Larry Deutschendort July 5 at Comanche hospital. He has been named Robert Dean. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Laxson...A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Doyal Humphries July 3 in a Rankin, Texas, hospital. She has been named Paula June. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Dilks. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Humphries.
